Cash

Meet our gorgeous gentle giant Cash. Cash is a 4-year-old male Bull Arab who is a large dog weighing 45 kgs. Cash is calm, loving, and friendly in nature and adores human company. Cash gets along well with children, other dogs, and cats. He loves a cuddle and has quickly won over the hearts of people who are not experienced with large dogs. When arriving at his foster home Cash needed lots of cuddles, attention and reassurance but settled in comfortably within a couple of days. Cash’s personality has quickly blossomed showing his goofy side when he is about to go for a walk, when playing with other dogs and when greeting his humans. Cash is attentive and has the ability for further training.

Favorite things

Cash’s favorite things include cuddles, walks and the company of others. He loves playing with other dogs, napping, and lying in the sun. Cash has not yet shown interest in toys but loves to run and jump around with you when he gets the zoomies. He loves to fall asleep touching you whether it’s with his paw or it’s lying on your feet. He likes to be involved and enjoys being let inside to join in watching tv.

Interaction with humans

Cash is very loving and gentle when meeting new people. He is calm in nature and will not jump or get overly excited. He loves receiving pats and cuddles so he adores making new friends, if you get close enough he may try to give you a kiss. Cash is gentle with children and will happily sit for them to pat him. Cash rarely barks and has not been seen snapping or showing any signs of aggression. As many dogs do, he does prefer to eat his food outside alone. This big loving fur ball welcomes anyone and everyone to come and pat him. Cash can get over stimulated with loud noises and can require some reassurance when he’s feeling stressed. We are unsure about how Cash is around storms and fireworks as of yet.

Obedience/ training

Cash is a smart dog and can sit, stay, and come when called. We think Cash may have had previous training but is very capable of further learning with a devoted owner. Cash is predominantly very good at walking with his harness on the lead and listens to basic commands. He can get excited when seeing other dogs and try to lunge towards them, he requires someone strong as well as recall training to redirect his attention from wanting to go up and say hi. He responds well to treats when training at home off the lead. But is not food orientated on walks. He knows his name and can be responsive to following his owner when instructed. He knows his bed and can stay on it when instructed. Cash responds well to positive reinforcement and praise.

Cash sleeps outside overnight but can be let inside and is toilet trained. Cash is calm when left alone but does prefer company whether that be of humans or another dog.

Cash is very good in the boot of the car and will easily jump into it when commanded. He loves to watch you driving but is also happy to have a quick snooze if he’s tired.

Animal social skills

Cash gets along well with cats and dogs. Cash’s foster family has an indoor cat who is quite shy but Cash is very calm and is happy to leave her be. Cash loves other dogs and is very playful and bouncy when first meeting them so he needs a lot of room for him to run around. Cash has not been tested around small dogs so ideally is better to be paired with larger dogs to play with. Cash is very good on walks alongside other dogs. He does get initially very excited and can jump around a little so hold on tight. He rarely barks or tries to intimidate other dogs. He thinks he is smaller than he is and can act like a big puppy when he plays. Cash does not chase birds when in the garden. We think that Cash has been socialized previously but is still learning to not mount other dogs when getting excited off lead

Food

Cash is fed twice a day (morning and evening), 2 cups for each meal of high-quality dry food for large dogs. He usually leaves half of his breakfast to spread it out throughout the day. Cash prefers a mix of dry and wet food but requires a balance due to the vet recommending him to lose 4 kgs. Cash is very gentle when receiving treats and is trained to sit when his food bowl is being placed down. His favorite treats are dried liver treats. Cash is not food aggressive but does prefer to be left alone when eating. Cash goes outside when his foster family are eating, but he is good at sitting on his bed if instructed and rewarded with appropriate dog treats to stay.

Independence

Cash does not mind being left alone and will entertain himself throughout the day. As he does enjoy the company of others he prefers to not be left alone for long periods. He will sleep comfortably outside without begging to come in over a night-time. Cash is not destructive and is very well behaved when coming inside. He will happily sleep on his bed if he knows you are close by. Cash rarely barks and will happily alternate between sleeping in the sun and shade throughout the day.

Bathing/ Hygiene / Sleep / Toilet training

Cash is short haired and has minimal to light shedding. His coat is easily managed with minimal brushing required. Cash is calm when being washed and is very obedient. Cash has two small wounds on the tops of his paws that are healing nicely which the vet is aware of and is not concerned.

Cash sleeps outside on his dog bed under cover with his blanket. He wears a coat at night when it's cold and sleeps well throughout the night.

When inside Cash is toilet trained and will start walking around or walk towards the door when he needs to go outside. Cash has had no accidents with his foster family and does not mark or damage furniture.

Exercise

Cash is walked twice a day once in the morning before breakfast and once of an evening. Cash walks for around 30 minutes to an hour each walk and is very content with this as he can comfortably rest throughout the day and night without getting restless. He can easily overheat in warm weather and enjoys a big drink of water when he gets home from a walk. Cash loves going for a walk and is very good at walking with his lead and harness. He enjoys a good sniff and sometimes a little jog if he’s excited. Cash can be quite strong on the lead when coming across other dogs so requires some recall training and encouragement to leave it. Inside Cash is very calm and is happy to relax on his bed as close as he can get to you.

Home in a perfect world

We are looking for a loving, forever home for Cash that has experience in caring for big dogs, with a large garden and secure, tall fencing. Cash could thrive from having another dog to keep him company but is also content without if he gets enough attention and love from his humans. Cash is friendly with cats, and whilst he gets along well with children he may be clumsy and could be more suited to a family with older children. He would benefit from an active family that can provide him with walks, lots of love and cuddles.

Cash is seeking a med to large size yard with secure fencing that has shade and shelter and grass to laze on

Cats will be fine but must be dog savvy

A home that will allow him inside and outside access

Another dog would make a great BFF for Cash but we seek a well socialized female who likes large size dogs

A home with children are fine but they must be dog experienced
