Meet Umbra and Ueko, goofy, daggy, bouncy balls of enthusiasm, who look like newborn gazelles when they run with their long legs that they’re still trying to get used to. Though these two will try to smother you with love, they occasionally still have some silly nipping (when they’re VERY excited) but generally save their teeth for their toys and smother their people with kisses and neck snuggles, and if you’re very lucky, ear nibbles. Ueko (shamelessly unrepentant “helper” when you’re folding clean washing) and Umbra (relentless instigator of mischief) love to play hard and sleep harder, a blessing for those of us who like to get our full 8 hours uninterrupted. Crate trained, they very rarely stir for a midnight toilet trip and munch of possum poo, but immediately resettle again until morning.

Both boys adore their kelpie x foster brother and spend much of their time worshipping at his feet, jumping in his face and following him around the yard. Umbra especially will need a friendly brother or sister dog to shadow constantly, Ueko is likely to be very happy with human company if no sibling is around, but is not used to sleeping alone. Dog savvy children will be adored by these boys, but please bear in mind that they will be VERY likely to be big dogs when fully grown, and might accidentally bump small people over with their enthusiasm for loves. PLEASE do not apply for these boys if you are not able to spend time with them during the day, it’s just unfair on such young dogs to be left alone in a yard for hours on end.

The boys are progressing well with toilet training, but will need further help. They will sometimes wee right by the door, so a doggy door would be a great advantage for them to get outside in a hurry if you aren’t paying attention. They have started to train to walk in harnesses but, let’s be honest, it’s currently like herding cows trying to get them to walk in any sort of a straight line at the moment. They also require further vaccinations before they can venture out in the big wide world. Persistence, separation from their brother and patience will be your best tools. They are very smart, and will do ANYTHING for food, which they are completely obsessed with, so training should be relatively straight forward.

Due to their rambunctious natures and enormous enthusiasm for life, Ueko and Umbra will need to be socialised carefully when they are young so that they have positive experiences and learn manners around less welcoming dogs. They have developed a healthy respect for our resident cats, one of whom will tolerate her ears being licked, the other who frequently delivers a well-timed swipe to any pup daring to come near her. When excited, they love to chase the cats down the hallway, but immediately stop and run in the opposite direction if the cat turns around. When calm, they are very curious and gentle with our cats, just wanting to snuggle and kiss them.

These boys will be an amazing addition to any family willing to give them time, love and lavish attention on them. They would love to grow up with children, watching them play sport, go to cafes and go on holidays and trips with their new family. They have so much love to give.
