About Banjo
Banjo is a 17 month old purebred Australian Cattle Dog who has unlimited energy.
In typical Cattle Dog fashion he is excitable & friendly and loves people & dogs he’s familiar with. As Banjo has high energy levels, he needs a lot of playtime & exercise which unfortunately his previous parents were unable to provide due to personal circumstances & health issues.
Banjo has done a significant amount of obedience training and he currently attends obedience classes, it's highly recommended that this is continued with his new owners. He has also started backpack training & is muzzle trained.
As an ACD he is highly intelligent & is more than capable of learning anything with the right encouragement. He is crate trained but does not currently spend much time in it.
He loves to be included in everything humans do as he has serious FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). He also has a talent for singing! He loves opera, country music & in particular Queen.
Whilst Banjo is very loving and affectionate, he does have some reactivity issues that will need to be worked on with his new owner. Moving objects and unfamiliar dogs are his main triggers. However, he can also be triggered by sudden movement of people. Hence, it’s important that he go to a home experienced in dealing with working dogs, especially cattle dogs, with very strong leadership skills, and no children.
Banjo has come from a home as an only dog, but may be suited to a home with an established older female dog, who can help him learn the ropes.
Overall, Banjo is a charming young boy. However, he is a work in progress that with the right leader will grow into a loyal, loving friend.
