About Darth
Meet our real-life teddy bear!
Darth is an absolute sweetheart. He has such a loyal, loving and gentle nature. His face is one full of expression – you can feel how much he loves you when he looks at you, and its like his eyes are thanking you just for being you. Darth is very affectionate and loves getting pats and belly rubs. He is a very endearing boy who is always smiling and a gentle sway in his tail. Darth is a big boy who will be the most grateful dog to whoever gives him a loving home for his twilight years.
Darth is a very social and easy-going fella. He is currently living with 5 other dogs in his foster home – all different sizes, ages, and energy levels. He is happy to let the other dogs snuggle up beside him and is tolerant of the other foster dog jumping up in his face to give him kisses. Darth would be happy to share his new home with another dog(s). He has some arthritis in his back end so he would be best suited to a companion dog(s) who isn’t going to knock him around too much. Additionally, he won’t need a lot of exercise, but he does need some, so a nice sniff and stroll would be perfect for maintaining some muscle mass.
This beautiful boy has lovely manners. He is very biddable, responds well to positive reinforcement and loves his treats. Darth is well behaved inside and not destructive. He travels well in the car and walks well on lead. Despite his size, he is not one to drag you around when on lead and he is a calm boy who isn’t going to knock people over. If there is a strange noise he will alert bark briefly, but he is not a nuisance barker. Darth is currently weighing in at 42kg and is overweight. His foster carer has started him on a diet, but his new owner will need to continue this to assist in taking the unnecessary pressure off his joints and he will also need joint supplements (e.g. Antinol Rapid or Rosehip Vital) added to his diet.
We are looking for a dog savvy home for Darth where he will be included as part of the family and given all the creature comforts he deserves. As he is such an affectionate boy, he would love a home where someone is home more often than not. He can be an only dog if he has company most of the time, or he can live with another suitable dog or two (see above) if his family are out a little more often. Darth will need to be allowed inside the home to spend time with the family and will need a comfy bed to sleep on inside at night. Although he has no issues getting up on the couch or doing steps now, it would be best that there were not too many steps in his new home. We are recommending a quieter home for Darth where he can relax but we do want to see someone committed to making sure he has the best quality of life now considering that he was dumped by his previous owners on the side of the road. Darth would be ok to live with children who are old enough to understand how to interact respectfully with him. Whatever his new owners give to him, Darth will give back ten-fold as he is just an amazing dog who very quickly worms his way into your heart.
If you can offer darling Darth the home and life he deserves then please complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step. Please let us know plenty of details about who is in the household and the type of lifestyle and care you can offer him.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
