About Ava
Hi everyone! My name is Ava, but my foster mum likes calling me suger-muffin-cute-patoot. I might look like a normal greyhound but I’m actually the biggest goof ball you will ever meet!
I adore playing with my toys and running around zooming in the yard, I am only 2 years old so I have lots and lots of energy to burn! I am very talented at fetch and I even return the ball and everything (if you ask nicely)
My foster dad and I love running around and throwing all my squeaky toys and then prancing around the yard with them, making as much noise as possible.
My favourite thing on this earth is HUMANS! When I see a human on a walk I can’t contain myself and run straight up to them to say hi. I love everyone! I enjoy the company of other dogs, especially greyhounds, so I can play and run and chase them, I can’t get enough!
It would be wonderful if my new family was home a lot to give me all the loving I need, however I can stay alone for 5 hours or so.
I have the biggest most expressive eyes, and my foster parents adore me so much, they say I’m the best greyhound they have ever met, and I say I love them by stealing their socks.
If you choose me I will fill your life with bliss and happiness with my sweet loving nature, I am the gentlest kind and most loveable girl
Summary:
- Requires a home with a backyard
- NOT small dog or cat friendly
- Requires a home where people are home more often than not (WFH or part time workers) OR a canine companion
- Not suitable for homes with children under 7 years of age
Ava is a 2-year-old Greyhound who loves nothing more than making her people smile. She's an energetic goof ball with lots of love to give. Ava loves running around and playing with her squeaky toys, and she's even great at fetching them back when asked nicely! She has the sweetest soul, and her foster parents adore her for it.
Ava adores people and will run up to anyone she sees on a walk. Although she loves the company of other dogs, especially Greyhounds, she is not small dog or cat friendly so should not be placed in a home with either. It would be best for Ava if her adopters are often home (such as WFH or part time workers) or have another canine companion for her to play with. Ava can stay alone for up to 5 hours at a time but loves spending quality time with people the most. Due to her excitable nature, it would also be best if there were no children under 7 years old in the home.
Ava is sure to bring joy and happiness where ever she goes - all she needs is a loving home with a backyard that can keep up with her enthusiasm and energy!
Adoption details
STEP 1 – ENQUIRE & EOI FORM:
https://greytgreys.org/adoption-form/
If the greyhound you have applied for is unavailable or unsuitable, we can match you with a more suitable greyhound. We may have a hound in foster care who might be well suited to your family.
STEP 2 – LET'S CHAT:
We'll phone you to discuss suitability, clarify any points of your application and chat process and next steps.
STEP 3 – HOUSE CHECK & MEET + GREET:
We'll come to you! The meet + greet is conducted at the same time that a house check is carried out. The meet + greet is the day that your newly adopted greyhound will be able to stay on with you.
Our adoption fee is $350.00 and must be paid on on the day of the meet + greet, and prior to starting your 3 week trial. Support from our team is freely available. If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all rescue greyhounds have some period of adjustment.
If after the 3 week trial, you feel that you need to return the greyhound, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
> Collar, lead & coat
> Certificate of sterilisation & vaccination
> Flea & worm treated
> Care information for your newly adopted greyhound
> Access to our private Facebook page for foster carers, volunteers and adopters of our hounds. A community with invaluable advice and support.
