**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **

NAME: Storm

BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound with her mum and 7 siblings.

BREED: Mum - Kelpie x Dad - Staghound x

Kelpie Breed Traits: high energy and highly intelligent being a working breed, so may need to be found a 'job' to make them feel fulfilled. They get bored easily if their brains are not worked, so training is a must. They are generally very social with adults, children and other dogs. They are very loyal but if the instinct is strong they may try to herd your children.

Staghound Breed Traits: generally, a mix between a Greyhound and a Deerhound this is a sighthound used for chasing quarry. Fast with endurance the Staghound also loves to be around its humans and is most affectionate. Well behaved around the home he has a high prey drive so may not be able to live with small animals. Needs good exercise - makes a good runner's companion.

ASSETS: Affectionate, smart, friendly, active, playful and very sweet. Storm is the smallest puppy in the litter.

FAVOURITE THINGS: Storm is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where she loves to rough and tumble with her siblings and play with balls and rope toys. She will play for a while then settle down with her siblings for a snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!

ENDEARING FEATURES: She's great with everyone she meets and is a confident and playful little girl who loves cuddles.

OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy she will get on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introductions and would go well in a home with either another youngish dog to play with, or a home where she gets to meet other dogs regularly. She could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat, again after gentle introduction.

GENERAL INFO: Storm will need training for pretty much everything as she's so young at present. She isn't housetrained yet so will definitely need help in this area too. Expect accidents while she's settling into her new home and routine! She'll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where she can mix with other dogs, and this is a commitment we will expect from her new owner. Mum is smart and her pups will love to please. We expect these pups to be medium sized but there are no guarantees.

ESSENTIALS for Storm:

** a loving home where someone is there for most of the day especially in the first six months after adoption
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence
** continued positive, gentle exposure and socialisation
** Storm will have bursts of energy while a pup and will be medium to high energy as an adult dog.

Storm could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 8 years of age who will play and interact with her but know when to give her space.
