About Terk - 5 Month Old Kelpie X (On Trial)
Charming Terk is a Kelpie X around 5 months old looking for a loving forever home.
Terk is an affectionate pup who loves a cuddle and will try to lick your face off any chance he gets. He is extremely playful with both humans and other dogs, and is often found wrestling with his foster brother.
Terk is a great mix of being an energetic, active companion and a snuggle buddy on the couch. He loves his toys and enrichment puzzles, and has been quick to pick up on new training. In his few weeks in foster care Terk has learnt to sit, lie down, stay and has great recall. He loves to get out for a walk, but is yet to have much training on the lead and will need an owner who is committed to ongoing training and socialisation so he can grow into a confident, happy adventure buddy.
Terk gets along well with dogs of all sizes, and loves playing with other dogs at home, because of this it would be great if Terk could go to a home that has another dog that he can play with while his owners are out and about. Otherwise a home with owners who can give Terk plenty of enrichment and exercise will also be considered.
Terk is very small for a Kelpie his age, weighing only 6kg, so he will likely only grow to be a pint sized Kelpie. He sleeps all through the night inside the house in his bed with no accidents so would love a home where he is allowed inside and outside so he feels like part of the family.
Terk came into care as a very scared little pup, shying away from new people and situations. His confidence has grown dramatically while in care, greeting new people with excited tippy tappys and tail wags. I believe he will quickly grow out of his nerves with some more socialisation and a comforting home.
Terks perfect home will:
- Love cuddles, and allow him to be an inside and outside dog
- Be looking for a full time member of the family
- Be an active family or single
- Be committed to ongoing training
- Have a fully fenced and secure yard
- Has the time to take him on outings to fulfill his exercise and social needs
- Be able to bring him to a DRN approved vet at approx. 6 months for desexing
For more information on Terk, please contact his foster carer on their email lucy.kidd@outlook.com.au. Terk is in foster care in Newcastle West, NSW. Terks adoption fee is $700. As Terk is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a DRN approved vet for desexing when he is approximately 5/6 months old. Please NO out of area applications.

Medical notes
As Terk is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a DRN approved vet for desexing when he is approximately 6 months old. Please NO out of area applications.
Terk has outwardly rotated elbows on his front two legs, likely due to the conditions he was in before coming into care. They don’t appear to affect his movement, but could mean he won’t be as mobile as a usual Kelpie.
