Schmit just has the most amazing eyes and face - you know exactly what he is thinking at any time.

This gorgeous big goof ball is a Mastiff x possibly crossed with Dane with an amazing temperament and stunning looks to match

He loves (with the deepest love imaginable) to be next to you, on you and with you. He is such a playful dork - you will never be lonely with Schmit in your life! He is fun, easy to train and gets along well with cats and dogs.

Favorite things:

Schmit’s favorite things are his humans. He loves to flop on you and cuddle. He also loves a long walk and zoomies in the yard with his toys. He can be vocal and wants to be part of any action. You will hear from him if he feels left out! Schmit loves his food - and hence he is easy to train.

He loves his toys (crunchy, squeaky toys are his favorite) and throws them around with such enthusiasm.

Interactions with humans:

Schmit loves everybody. If you can pat him and shower him with love - he will be your best friend. We have had lots of people visiting the house over Christmas and he has not shown any aggression. Being a puppy - he does sometimes jump - but has improved a lot in our care. He is sometimes mouthy - but in a playful way - if you stop petting him.

Obedience:

Schmit just wants to be loved. He responds well to training and has learnt lots with his foster family. He is not food aggressive, he can sit on command and loves to give you his paw. He has been on lots of little walks on lead and is playful with other dogs. He is not dog aggressive. In the car he cries a little until settled. He knows the word no and will do his very best to obey.

Animal Social Skills:

Schmit loves being with his foster friends. He has no aggression towards the house cat (probably the most gentle of all our foster pups) and adores our house dog. We have exposed him to our trusted friend dogs and he is playful and respectful of them. He could easily be housed with other dogs - but would love to live as an only animal (that gets all the attention).

Food:

Schmitt has a healthy appetite and tolerates all food. He is currently on a high quality dry food and has dog treats as training and rewards. As he is a big boy he will need to be fed on large breed puppy food

Independence

Schmit has been left for a day at home. Originally when he was brought to the foster family he hated being left alone But slowly over the last 3 weeks we have been progressively leaving him and he is getting better each day. We are confident with training and appropriate stimulation outside - he could be left during work hours. Be prepared to love him a lot on your return though! Schmit has not destroyed anything, has not dug anything and loves a snooze on the outdoor couch.

Bathing:

Whilst in our care, Schmitt has had a bath and tolerated it well. Being short haired he is easy to wash and drys super quick.

Sleeping:

Schmitt sleeps in a crate adjoining garage with his brother, dog and cat. He may sleep for 5 minutes when he initially goes to bed but then settles well and sleeps without noise till 6.30 - 7am. On waking he goes out for toileting - then has breakfast. He has never soiled the bed. What a good boy.

Exercise:

Schmit walks fairly well on the lead for a puppy. He is happy to go for a short walk or a long walk and does not pull. He will need further training but really shows great promise. He sleeps for hours on return, so a walk before work is recommended.

Inside the home:

We have had very little accidents with Schmit in the home - once he had settled and learnt the house rules. He sits at the back door now when he needs to go to the toilet. Schmit does think every couch and bed is fair game and loves nothing more than a snuggle on the couch. Be prepared to be loved and offer lots of love in return. If you work from home he will lay at your feet all day and snooze - with bouts of play in between.

ideal home:

Schmit would love an active family that is prepared to pour love, training and time into him. It is not important that you have other animals, but he is good with other animals, but it is really important that you are willing to train him. He will be a big boy and whilst his manners have definitely improved - he will need puppy school to continue his training.

Due to his size, children would need to be dog savvy and young children are not recommended.

Schmitts perfect home

If I could have my wish for my new home I would love the following

Children - I would love to have some children if possible who are gentle and kind and loving but mature enure to know I need lots of un interrupted nap time while of grow and who won't drop me so over 5 would be nice

I would love a secure backyard that has grass for me to play in with shelter and shade and room for me to run so no little units or tiny terrace yards

I would be fine with cats as there are some in my foster home and I'm young enough to learn

I would love a BFF doggy friend if possible that is a FEMALE and of medium size and up who is kind and loving and would be ok with the usual puppy chewing and playful behavior. .She must be desexed and well socialized with other dogs

I would love a home that my new family are willing to train me and not just have me as a back yard ornament and who will treat me as a part of the family
