About Maxwell
Maxwell is a smart cookie. He is intelligent and eager to learn new things. He has settled into foster care very well and is easy to train.
As Max is not quite two years old he still has some puppy energy. He loves his two good walks each day. Max has an accurate body clock so will remind you when it's walk time. After he has had his morning walk and some breakfast he will happily snooze the day away in preparation for his afternoon walk or car trip. He may still have some energy when he gets home for some zoomies to entertain you. Max’s zoomies are quite a display of joy and athleticism. He will make the most of any space available to dart across the room or yard bouncing of the couch or garden beds.
On his walks, Max has a gentle pace but is still getting used to the loud or sudden noises in busy areas.
Max can get a little excited meeting new people and dogs. He will just need some patience and guidance as he adjusts to his new freedom as a rescues hound.
Car trips are a favourite and he only needs a little guidance jumping in.
Max has learnt the boundaries at home. He knows the kitchen is out of bounds and which furniture he is aloud to snooze on and he has learnt to sleep on his own bed in the study.
Max prefers to have his humans at home with him as much as possible but with some training and support has been OK home alone for up to 4 hours.
Max loves a chew toy. His toy basket should include chew toys and maybe a licky-mat and puzzle toys. Max is also a collector. He will bring back to his bed various cherished items such as stray socks, shoes, hats, sleep masks or even the door snake.
Maxwell is a loving young man who will quickly settle into any loving home.
Maxwell will need more space than many of our hounds for adoption. A house or larger apartment with a yard would be ideal.
No cats or small dogs
No full time workers unless some working from home
No children under six

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
