Hello everyone! Do you have a dog at home who loves to run and play? Are you looking for an easy-going, sweet and friendly forever sibling for him/her? Well, look no further - Gretel is your girl!
Gretel is a very sweet, happy-go-lucky girl. Her ideal forever home would be one that has another dog who likes to play; and where she will also be part of the family. She loves to rest her head on your lap for lots of cuddles.
Gretel gets along great with our own dog who is a Bull Arab cross, as well as our previous foster. She was very well mannered when she met dogs of all sizes at the Petbarn adoption days that she has attended.
Because Gretel is still only young, she likes to chew on things. It will be important in her new home that she is given toys or dog bones to chew in order to help her through this phase of puppyhood.
Gretel knows how to sit and wait for her food and eats with the command ‘dinner’. She loves her food but is not food aggressive at all. She is very gentle and patient. Gretel loves taking big drinks of water so a large water bowl is a must. This also means that she sometimes shares her water with the floor around her bowl, so a towel near by can come in handy.
Her foster family have been working with her to come when she’s called, using treats as a reward. They have started taking her to off leash areas and she has responded very well to coming back when called. She is proving to be a pretty fast learner. She is a clever girl who would respond really well to more training in her forever home.
At night Gretel sleeps on her bed in her human foster brother's room (or curls up on the end of his bed), and sleeps through the night.
Gretel currently lives with a dog, two cats, one sheep, two cows, and 4 children ranging in age from 12 years old down to 1.5 years old. Gretel would not be suited to a home with cats. Currently our cats are kept separate in their own space. Having 4 children, her foster home can be pretty loud and chaotic at times; Gretel has been a champ and taken it all in her stride and is great with the kids.
Gretel was recently given an assessment and it’s felt that with further training she could also become a wonderful emotional support dog. Gretel is a gentle soul, a total sweetheart and full of love.
