About Romeo
Romeo is a big, lovable goof-ball looking for a new family to welcome him into their lives. He is in need of someone who has experience with larger breeds & who will invest time into his training & guidance.
He is still a young guy at only 8 months old & may still have a bit of growing to do. He has a lovely nature & has been sociable & playful with other dogs that he has met at the shelter, particularly the ladies ;). If you already have a dog in your life then we suggest that you arrange a meet & greet for them with us prior to adoption.
Romeo needs some time put into some basic training as he can be a bit jumpy at times but, considering his lack of training prior to coming to the shelter, he is going really well with learning to walk nicely on his harness. Plus he loves food treats, which helps speed up the learning process.
His new guardian needs to understand that, at times, Romeo can be a little bit wary, particularly of sudden movements. Calm reassurance is what is needed when a dog is fearful of something in it's environment. Creating positive experiences for our dogs & giving them choice will help boost their confidence.
Romeo is a big dog requiring secure fencing & a high quality diet. His bones & joints are still developing & so good nutrition is key for optimum health.
We are looking for a home with older kids (10+yrs) due to his adolescent jumpy nature & we suggest that everyone in the household comes along to meet him prior to adoption.
He is not used to being left on his own & may experience some separation distress. Adequate exercise can help this along with enrichment such as frozen Kongs, bones & long lasting chews.
Romeo's adoption fee is $350 which includes his desexing, health check, microchip, vaccinations as well as up-to-date flea & worm treatments.
