About Kit
Introducing dear little KIT, a gentle and sweet-tempered female Blue Cattle Dog about 9 months old. Weighing just 11.3 kgs, she is a pint-sized Blue.
Based on Kit's wiry coat, the absence of tan colouring, and her fine frame, our breed experts tell us Kit's most likely a Stumpy Tail Blue Cattle Dog (sometimes referred to as a "Smithfield"), despite her full-length tail. Apparently, it's not uncommon for a Stumpy litter to contain a pup with a long tail.
Kit is reserved till she gets to know you, wary of strangers, very intelligent and always alert. In other words, she's a typical Stumpy. She will need space, kindness and patience for a few days while she settles into her new home, but you will be rewarded with a lifetime of love, affection and loyalty.
Kit is very dog-friendly and gets on with the resident cat. She's great with kids who have good dog-manners. She doesn't jump up and is happy to receives pats and gentle cuddles with people she trusts.
She is an undemanding girl, provided she has at least one doggy mate to play with. She's good with all dogs, large and small, young and old. And as you can see from the video, she loves swimming and water play.
Although she loves a cuddle when she gets to know you, she's not needy and is definitely not a "licker", nor is she destructive or aggressive in any way. The toys of her fostermum's grandchildren have remained in place and completely intact since Kit arrived.
She is fully house-trained but enjoys the freedom of being outside with her canine buddies, so likes a good-sized yard to romp and play.
To be happy and content, Kit will need regular daily exercise and play, which is far more achievable if she shares her home with at least one like-minded dog. As always, secure fencing is a must, although Kit is not a fence jumper.
Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time and there is at least one other dog for Kit to play with. Previous experience with cattle dogs will be well regarded.
If you are interested in meeting this little girl and can offer her a suitable, safe and loving forever home, PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
Kit's adoption fee is $850. She is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
She is not available for interstate adoption.
