Then please meet DJ, a handsome Red Heeler mix male, born on 10 April 2022.

DJ is a friendly and approachable boy. He loves people, including children, and is very open to making new friends.

Like most cattle dogs, he has an independent streak, but this boy also enjoys cuddles, praise and attention. He has taken a particular fancy to his foster mum and loves leaning against her just to remind her he's around.

DJ lives happily with other dogs in his foster home and is accepting of the resident cat.

He is clever, alert and conscious of his home territory. Although he's not "barkie", he'll sound the bark alarm if someone comes to the gate so will make a good watch dog.

He's not a dog that would be content sitting around the house for hours on end and will encourage you to exercise and play.

With his friendly demeanour, he will make a good companion or family pet and will benefit from ongoing socialisation with people and other dogs.

Being just a pup - and being a cattle dog - he would probably do best in the hands of someone with prior breed experience, perhaps someone who can show leadership and set boundaries.

As always, secure fencing is a must, although DJ has shown no interest in jumping fences.

On 9 December 2022, he weighed 18.1 kgs.

Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time and there is another compatible dog for DJ to play with. He is not available to full-time workers.
