Hunter is a big love bug that is enthusiastic about life! He loves to spend time with people having ear scratches and tummy rubs. He has been able to adapt to being in shared care with 2 carers as he came into care with a broken foot that required surgery followed by 6 weeks crate confinement and an extensive rehab program. He sleeps all night in his crate.

Hunter loves his walks on which he is given the opportunity to do lots of sniffing showing the hound side of his breeding. He has learnt to sit at the road and rarely needs to be reminded now. He is a very smart boy who learns fast but will require continued training to help him be the best that he can be.

Hunter waits nicely for his food, can sit and drop on command. He has been working on not jumping up on people. Some days are better than others, but he is making good progress with consistent expectations and praise when he does the right thing.

He will need to be walked on lead whilst his training is continued but he would enjoy enclosed dog parks where he can run and explore and work on his recall training.

Hunter is looking for an active family that will take him on adventures and play with him in the backyard. He travels well in the car, loves to meet people of all ages and with encouragement he adapts well to things that may initially make him uneasy.

Hunter plays well with medium to large dogs but may be a little too enthusiastic for smaller dogs. He has displayed submissive behaviour with more dominant dogs reading their cues well.

Hunter’s loves chew toys and balls! He will run and fetch the ball but giving it back for the next throw is still a work in progress!
