About Buddy & Hector
Buddy was a feral stray and no-one predicted he would turn into the smooch-machine that he is now! Buddy will almost trip you up demanding you sit down so he can get in your lap for head scratches and belly rubs, and will make you laugh with his snorty-sounding purrs.
Buddy turned up limping in suburban Diggers Rest, hunting and scavenging whatever food he could find. We managed to trap him and he ended up having a badly broken toe that had healed in the wrong position, causing calluses to form because he was walking on his inner toe skin rather than his toe pad. He also tested positive for FIV and had a wound on his face from a cat fight. Buddy was treated with antibiotics for his wound, had his mangled toe amputed, and now he runs around doing zoomies. Every vet and volunteer who meets him cannot believe he is FIV+ because he is so healthy. His coat is shiny, his teeth are in perfect condition, and he is very active. We expect Buddy to live a long, full life despite his FIV diagnosis. These days FIV is no longer a death sentence.
Buddy was the first cat we rescued as an organisation and he is somewhat of a mascot. Buddy has been in care for a long time, but this whole time he has been paying that kindness forward, in the form of welcoming new cats and helping tame spicy kitties by somehow telling them that us humans aren't so bad and reassuring them that they will be okay. Buddy is besties with Hector, an ex bush feral from the outskirts of Ballarat, and they can often be found smooching and sleeping in a cuddle puddle. Albeit Buddy makes fast friends with just about every cat he meets!
Buddy loves toys, treats and his human and cat companions. Not only would you get a very affectionate and loyal companion in Buddy, but he will go well with any household decor with his sleek tuxedo coat! Buddy would make a perfect companion for virtually any kind of household!
Buddy can be adopted alone, or if you want to adopt him with a friend we will discount their adoption fees.
Medical notes
Buddy is FIV+ and has had one front toe amputated but he is very healthy otherwise.
