About Hershey
Hershey is a remarkable 13-month-old Kelpie x Border Collie mix who has truly grown into a wonderful companion during his 400 days in our care. Despite facing some challenges in life, Hershey's resilient spirit and loving nature shine through, making him an ideal furry friend for the right family.
🌟 Basic Training 🌟
Hershey has mastered a range of basic commands, including "Sit," "Careful," "Step Up/Down" (for stairs and cars), "Gentle," "Say Hello," "Hershey Come" (recall), "No/Timeout," and even "Nap Time!" He's also got his bathroom etiquette down, preferring to do his business on the grass. Hershey is a quick learner and is eagerly awaiting more opportunities to show off his skills.
🐾 Compatibility 🐾
Ok with Kids: Over 12, please.
Cats: No problem!
Other Dogs: Hershey is a social butterfly and gets along with dogs of all sizes.
Pocket Pets: With a slow and proper introduction, he'll be just fine.
⚡ Energy Level ⚡
Hershey's energy level has transitioned from high to medium, making him an ideal companion for active families. He'll love outdoor adventures, but he's also happy to cuddle up with you on the couch.
🏡 Home Sweet Home 🏡
Fence Jumper: Nope, Hershey can't see those fences!
Separation Anxiety: Not anymore! 🙌
Crate Trained: Yes, but Hershey prefers to have the choice.
House Trained: Absolutely.
🚶♂️ Leash Manners 🚶♀️
Hershey walks beautifully on a leash, making your daily strolls a pleasure.
❤️ Personality ❤️
Affectionate: Hershey is a super affectionate pup who can't wait to shower you with love.
Socially Outgoing: He's a bit of a Gemini, as he can be both outgoing and enjoy quiet home time.
🍗 Motivation 🍗
Hershey is motivated by squeaky toys and will play fetch with you all day long!
🦴 Endearing Traits 🦴
One of Hershey's standout qualities is his exceptional ability to map his surroundings, which he uses to compensate for his blindness. He is incredibly attentive and listens to commands, always eager to please his human. His determination and love are truly heartwarming.
🐕 Challenge Accepted 🐕
While Hershey has made great strides, he still has a sensitivity to other dogs' barking, which is not uncommon for blind dogs. We've been diligently working on desensitizing and redirecting this behavior, and with the right support, he will continue to improve.
If you're ready to open your heart and home to a special pup like Hershey, please consider giving him the loving forever home he deserves. Contact us today to meet this amazing boy and make him a part of your family!

Adoption details
Step 1: Fill out the adoption application
Complete the adoption application found at the following link: https://bit.ly/Adoptadeafie. Once the application is completed and returned, it will be assessed for suitability.
Step 2: Phone call from HNE team
You will receive a call from one of the HNE team to discuss your application in more detail. This will be followed up by another phone call to answer any further questions or concerns that may be raised from the previous call.
Step 3: Meet and greet with the dog and yard check
If your application progresses, a meet and greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and current dogs is arranged where possible. Should this not be possible due to being interstate, then an online meet with the foster carer will be arranged. This usually coincides with a yard check to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept.
Step 4: Payment of adoption fee
Payment of the non-refundable adoption fee in full is required prior to the handover of the dog. You will receive all the animal's possessions, and certificates will be emailed. Transport arrangements are the financial responsibility of the adopting party. Hear No Evil is happy to assist with departure preparations and ensuring the dog makes its transport connection.
Final step: Microchip details and finalization of adoption
Once the 14-day "settling in" period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalized. More information can be found in the Terms & Conditions on the adoption form.
