About Peach
Hi! I’m Peach and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR PEACH
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/BgzjzNgJycGJWJwR8
NOTE: You are unable to meet Peach until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Peach in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• A doggie companion is a MUST to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time. I am needing a home with another dog who will play with me as when im bored I can become destructive (particularly when left inside alone) but I am perfect when someone is with me.
• MUST be allowed inside when my family is home.
• No small dogs as I need a bigger dog to rough and tumble with.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation, I LOVE toys!
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• I have lots of energy so an active family is a must
• I have lived with a cat before but I do like to chase them sometimes so If I go to a home with a cat, the cat will need to be able to stand its ground so I don’t chase them anymore.
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can be the best dog I can be when I'm older.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a nervous/shy in new situations and with new people (particularly men). Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk.
• young children as they scare me but older mature kids may be okay if they allow me to grow in confidence with them in my own time.
My best features:
• Very playful once comfortable
• Wiggle butt
• Gentle & placid
• Quick learner
• I can sit
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I LOVE toys, playing fetch and a game of tug-o-war
• Love to snooze on the couch
• Exuberant & full of beans
• Housetrained and used to being allowed inside
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I am shy at first with new people (this is worse with men) and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization.
• When on walks I can go up to people and bark as a defense mechanism, this is due to fear so lots of positive socialisation should help this.
• I can be strong on the lead - training and walking me in a halti or harness may stop this
• I am scared of going in the car so lots of treats and positive reinforcement around the car and going in the car is recommended.
