About Malibu
Well hello handsome! This beautiful boy is known as Malibu and isn’t he just the most lovely goober you’ve ever seen?!
Malibu came to us from a rural NSW pound after being surrendered by his previous family. Unfortunately, the pound filled up and Malibu was next in line for euthanasia simply as he was the longest termer. We didn’t have a carer free at the time but couldn’t let this boy die just because of a lack of space, so we arranged for him to go directly into board and train with one of our trainers. Now all he needs is his forever family!
While at the pound facility, Malibu was a staff favourite. He wins everyone over who he meets and leans in to lap up all the love and affection. Malibu would take your love all day and gives it back tenfold. He will make an excellent best friend and companion for his new owner. When you tell Malibu he is a good boy his tail does such big wags and he gets the biggest grin on his face. You couldn’t ask for a bigger or more loveable dork of a dog.
Malibu clearly had some training put into him prior to ending up at the pound as he already knows all the basic commands such as sit, drop, wait, on your bed and other tricks. He is highly food motivated so is more than willing to please in exchange for that treato! Malibu travels well in the car and is polite and well-mannered in the home. Although not high energy, he loves to get out for a daily walk and walks well on the lead. Malibu is happily enjoying pack walks alongside other dogs at the trainers and is happy to walk past passing dogs without fuss.
Malibu is having controlled socialisation with other dogs at the trainers and was able to greet all the other dogs at the pound through the fences. It doesn’t appear he had the opportunity to meet and play with other dogs before this though and can forget his manners and size when initially meeting new dogs. This could be considered rude by other dogs, so he is not suitable to go to off-lead places like dog parks and beaches. He is better suited to controlled playdates or just walking with other doggy friends rather than having crazy play time. If there is another dog in his new home, then it needs to be a larger dog who is easy going and wouldn’t be offended by his over enthusiastic hellos. The owner would also need to be willing to supervise interactions and provide appropriate guidance where required. Malibu is good at listening to the trainer’s guidance in regards to socialisation with others but it would take this big happy boy time to learn what is appropriate and what is not.
We are looking for a home where Malibu will be a loved family member and with a large breed experienced owner who can appropriately guide his interactions with other dogs if he is to be around them. He can be an only dog as he has shown to be ok chilling by himself for shorter periods. He is untested home alone for full time working hours but this would be considered if someone has the ability to ease him into this routine. If there is another dog at home, it needs to be the right personality as outlined above and the owner will need to be home most of the time for a few weeks to supervise interactions. Malibu is not tested with cats or pocket pets. At the pound, the children of the staff used to visit him and he was good with them so he would be ok to live with kids comfortable with a dog his size (around 45kg). Malibu is pretty chilled out so could be suitable to a unit if given appropriate exercise and company at home.
If you are interested in bringing this big hunk of love into your home then please complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step. Please provide plenty of details in your application about the life he would have with you and if there is another dog at home, lots about them and their personality.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
