About Ruby
Big, beautiful Ruby has not had the easiest start in life. She has spent most of it tethered on a property & has not received much by the way of training or guidance. That being said, she is a lovely, affectionate girl who is more than happy to be taught appropriate ways to behave.
Ruby has not seen much of the world & can get overwhelmed with new experiences. Her new family will need to be aware of this & allow her to discover things in her own time. She was very fearful of traffic when she arrived, but now, with regular daily walks, she can trot along the side of the road much more confidently.
Ruby is looking for a family who will have experience with larger breed dogs & understand that she needs consistency in her training. Dogs respond very well to positive reinforcement training - rewarding the behaviour you wish them to repeat. Reinforcement can come from many sources: food, toys, play, praise. It is a fun & effective technique which builds an amazing bond with your dog as well as creates trust, communication & connection. Repetition is key!
Ruby has lived with another male dog in the past & enjoyed his company. She may, therefore, be able to co-habit with a canine companion. A meet & greet would be needed for this & we would recommend a similar sized, sociable male dog.
Due to her size & bouncy nature, we would suggest older kids of 12+ years old.
