Max's story.
Max had his left eye removed at the age of 4 months after a grass seed became embedded and infected.
His eye was surgically removed by his vet and he has lived a full and active Greyhound racing lifestyle
until he injured his hind leg.
He was duly retired from Racing and has recently been brought into our foster care system.
Max is not fazed by any obstacles in his way and has truly and wholeheartedly grown accustomed to his new 'pet' status!
We are totally enjoying seeing his fabulous personality come through.
He is such a gentle, funny, cuddly boy!
Previously Max was used to being kenneled and having a daily training regime.
Now in CARMAR care, Max has been introduced to a daily routine to help him adjust to a normal inside/outside household lifestyle.
This gentle goofball is now house-trained, walks very well on harness and lead twice a day and is introduced to new environments and new experiences as often as possible.
He now sleeps quietly indoors in his crate or on his own couch infront of the TV, pawfect for the goofy couch potato he is rapidly becoming!
Max is learning how to meet other dogs and humans down the street on his daily walks.
He also loves car travel and exploring new surroundings.
He is not scared of vet visits or the bath as he was groomed before every race meet and now also enjoys water play.
*He does however get startled if you approach him silently from his blindside or if something sneaks up on his blindside, he can give a yelp and a nip if startled. Using voice commands is a must in Max's situation.
If you are
a dog loving couple that can take Max on holidays with you, or a single person who needs a BFF or a family with kids 15yo and above, then please send in your EOI today!
It's not paramount but because Max was used to being kenneled and around other dogs, we'd like to see him go to a furever home with a similarly active friendly resident dog so he isn't alone and can learn from an established dog.
*Please note; Max is not cat or pocket pet friendly. Max's foot has completely heeled, although he may always have a slight limp or occasionally carry his hind leg.
**Footnote:
*In Victoria, pet Greyhounds no longer need to be muzzled while out in the public domain, however they must always be on leash, even at public off leash dog areas.
*For more information on keeping pet Greyhounds click on the Agriculture Victoria link below.
If you think you can give Max all the love, attention and a safe environment then click on his Petrescue link below and send us your EOI today!
