About Dougal
PROFILE AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Dougal is an energetic 4-year-old cavalier King Charles mix. He loves his walks, the longer the better and loves a good run on his harness so Dougal is looking for an active home.
This lovely boy has had a tough start to life and is very wary of men so an all-female household is preferred, he does get nervous of other people in his house so ideally no other pets and limited regular visitors who must give Dougal his own space.
Dougal is not suited to a home with children or visiting grandchildren as they are just too unpredictable and overwhelming for him.
He enjoys hiking and swimming in lakes and even camping. He doesn’t stray far from your side but does the occasional hilarious sprint and comes straight back to you.
His foster carers have taken Dougal to the beach a few times, he loves running on the sand and will go in the water with your guidance so a home where he can go to a calm beach or lake would be great as this is his happy place.
A quiet home and area would be perfect for Dougal with access to a secure garden.
Dougal does take a little while to warm up to you, but once he does, he is a cuddle bug and won’t want to leave your side. He loves playing with his toys and running around the house playing hide and seek.
It is important that you have the time and patience to settle him in and continue to socialise him slowly in the world outside of the home, using only force-free training methods.
A household where one person is regularly in the house is also preferred, he can be left alone for a couple of hours but as he is playful and loves his attention a home where his new owner is not away for long periods of time is ideal.
It is super important that his new owner be, kind, and have patience whilst he adjusts again to his new surroundings, but be assured, once he is comfortable, he will be the best company and will entertain you with his play with his toys which he absolutely loves to toss around.
As with all our dogs, they must always have access inside.
Dougal is not suited to a home with cats or birds
Once you meet Dougal you will fall in love, he is a gorgeous boy that truly deserves the most loving warm home.
If you would like to meet Dougal please send us an email with as much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including information about your other pets (if any) and family members, plus lifestyle, and outings you will provide Dougal how often Dougal would be alone, where he will have access in the home and where she would sleep of a night, where Dougal would go if you went away and could not take him with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
