Mistletoe is a beautiful girl who is a little shy at first but warms up quickly. A companion is her absolute favourite thing, although she has had to learn that a doggo friend doesn’t actually need to be herded!! You can tell this kelpie came from the country. This little lady is learning new suburban ways of life. Initially the foot traffic and suburban sounds were overwhelming but day by day Mistletoe is relaxing into a new lifestyle. She will certainly need some guidance on boundaries but she is super eager to learn and knows a few general commands already.

Mistletoe will suit a home with a family, children and another resident dog she can learn from and spend time with that can help her with general training and becoming completely relaxed with suburban life. A home where there is a companion with her would be ideal, it can be either human or dog but she isn’t keen on being alone for extended periods of time.

Mistletoe loves playing with her foster sister (Marley the kelpie x). If Mistletoe had her way they would never stop playing, from the moment she wakes up she is looking for her foster sister and just wants to play play play! Mistletoe has been introduced to tennis balls and footballs and has grasped these fetch games well and she loves to wrestle Marley. Mistletoe shows a very different side with our children, she is gentle, wants to drape herself over them like a seatbelt and loves nothing more than sharing snuggles with a human all night while she sleeps.

Mistletoe has shown zero interest in stealing or chewing up human belongings at all. She is such a good girl, totally toilet trained, will sit for her food which she enjoys thoroughly. She is super clever, eager to learn and loves food rewards. Mistletoe isn’t at all mouthy but will gently pop her paws on your chest if she gets a little excited, she is still learning. She also seems to have springs in her feet, jumping is as easy as breathing!

Mistletoe is currently living with another kelpie x, 1 child (9) 1 x teen (14), 2 adults, 2 cats and a rabbit. Mistletoe has noticed the rabbit and is completely disinterested, the cats are a different story, Mistletoe is so excited by them! As in she wants to meet and greet at full speed (we are making progress with this). It’s well intentioned and I see no aggression just unbridled excitement, if the cat approaches her she doesn’t know what to do and backs away! I think with continued training she will be good with cats.

Mistletoe is the QUEEN of walking like it’s a zigzag challenge. I’d suggest this country gal hasn’t spent too much time on a lead before she got here, but the minute that lead shows itself she is front and centre and ready to go. Walks seem to be a sensory activity for Mistletoe which she loves, she will take her time, sniff everything in sight and lay in the grass every few houses, she must love this feeling, it’s one of her favourite things to do. Mistletoe is a water girl, she loves her little paddle pool and thinks the garden hose is the best thing ever!

A home with space to run would be great with someone home all or most of the time as this girl needs her pack. Mistletoe will make a brilliant pet for a loving, inclusive family willing to continue general training and socialising. Mistletoe is absolutely ready for her forever home, so if you have a kelpie sized vacant spot on your bed and in your heart, this girl will fill it.
