About George - Fostered In Perth
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. Please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: George
BEFORE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Chihuahua x Jack Russell x Red Heeler
Breed Traits:
Chihuahuas love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone. They are sensitive and can be problematic if overindulged. They love their family but can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas are not outside dogs. Bright and wilful they will learn if you make it fun.
Jack Russells are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. They are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. Gentle exposure/socialisation is a must.
Australian Cattle Dogs (Heelers) are affectionate, devoted and protective of family but can be wary of strangers. Usually attach to one person and love to be close. Very high energy and highly intelligent - they love to have a job and if not mentally and physically worked they will be destructive. Bred to herd by nipping so is mouthy and therefore may nip anything that moves. They have a strong prey drive with other small animals unless reared with them. Not for novice owners.

ASSETS: Affectionate, Easy going, clever, friendly, obedient, active, playful and very sweet. George is a very happy little boy who is enjoying the new people and experiences he's had since he's been in foster care.
FAVOURITE THINGS: George is a typical puppy with bursts of energy. He loves to play with his carer and will then settle down for cuddles and a sleep before waking up to do it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: He's great with everyone he meets, and everyone loves him! He's very affectionate and loves to be around people.
OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other friendly dogs and would love another youngish dog to play with or get to meet and socialize with other dogs regularly. He hasn't been introduced to cats yet but could probably live with a dog-savvy cat.
GENERAL INFO: George will need training on the lead. He is housetrained and is used to a doggy door but in a new environment expect the odd accident until he settles. He may bark when he sees unknown dogs. He's a clever cookie so command training will be a breeze if his owner puts in the time. He'll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes giving him gentle exposure. George is good at entertaining himself and being a typical pup, he does chew so some good chew toys will help. George has been crate trained and loves his special safe place where he can chill when he's tired.
ESSENTIALS for George:
