About Cobber
Cobber has just turned 5 and is our longest term resident. Cobber isn’t overlooked because he’s difficult. He’s overlooked because he’s unique. He’s not the kind of dog who bends himself to please just anyone – he’s the kind of dog who waits for the right someone to recognise his worth.
WHY COBBER IS ONE-OF-A-KIND:
Confident & self-assured: He meets new people with curiosity and honesty, not chaos.
Emotionally intelligent: He reads people beautifully, warming up quickly once trust is earned.
Clever & trainable: This boy thrives on structure, games, and learning new things.
Independent yet loving: He’ll share your space and your heart without needing to be in your pocket 24/7.
Clear communicator: Cobber has healthy boundaries and respects yours in return – the foundation of true partnership.
WHO COBBER NEEDS:
Someone steady, kind, and consistent. A person who values partnership, not dominance. If you love a dog with depth, brains, and a dash of cheeky spark – Cobber might just be the soulmate you’ve been waiting for.
If you think you could be Cobber’s person, please call our Shelter Manager Yvette on 0421 831 128, to chat about Cobber, or make a time to come and meet him.

Adoption details
If there is a cat/dog you would be interested in adopting that you have seen online or met at our Adoption Centres, you will need to fill out an Expression of interest. You can do this at the Centres or online at: friendsofthepound.com/adoption-apply
If you are a homeowner, we need a copy of your Rates Notice. If you have a Body Corp, we need their written permission that cat/dog ownership is allowed.
If you are in a rental we need written permission from the Home owner/Letting Agent. The letter needs to be dated within the last week and state the property address, the name of the Occupant (adopter-to-be) and how long you have been at the property.
We cannot accept deposits and no hold can be put on the cat/dog.
All adoptions need to be approved by our Cat, Kitten or Dog Coordinators or Management so you might not be able to adopt the cat or dog at the time you meet them.
We aim to match the cats/dogs with the most suitable owner and home environment. Our goal is to have the cats and dogs go to a home where they can spend their entire lives, which could be up to 20 years or more for a kitten. and 15-20 years for a puppy.
