Asahi loves to snuggle, unlimited parts, which is his ultimate spoil session. When you head outside to greet him, he is all cute and playful. He approaches gently with a look in his eyes “just love me.” He can be a little bashful at times, he really wants to please his humans.

Asahi is a loveable 23 kolo Great Dane x - Obviously with something a lot smaller as he is just a small med size boy

Favourite Things: Asahi has a soft and gentle nature, is curious and exploratory on walks and is very well behaved around other animals. He is very spritely and energetic when he wants to be but is also content with snoozing in the sun. During his time with his foster family, he has been amazing with many visitors, most of which include small kids, he can be cautious to begin with some people, he needs space to approach you at his pace.

Interaction with humans: Asahi will love people, if you have the time to sit with him, he will be most happy. Asahi’s foster family consists of a female dog of equivalent size, two children and two adults and has been a dream. He has shown playful cheeky affection to all of us equally and is happy to sit or follow us around curiously. Our children have spent heaps of time in the backyard, chasing each other and throwing balls. Asahi made an instant impression on his foster family, as he is an absolute joy to spend time with, he warms your heart. Asahi will choose human above another dog although he has been amazing with each dog, he has spent time with, he respects their space and boundaries although appreciates the same in return.

Obedience / Training: Asahi is a beautifully mannered boy with very submissive eager to please behaviours. He will eagerly wait for his leash to be placed on in anticipation of a walk, he is wonderful on lead, does not pull and takes in the world as we stroll. Very pleasant to everyone he meets and is not bothered by passing dogs. He has not mastered many of the standard commands yet, likely to be due to the fact he is not hugely food motivated. This training will need to continue with his new family. He travels ok in the car although needs convincing to jump up in the boot with enticement of food. Asahi was a dream during his most recent vet visit.

Animal Social Skills: His favourite animal game is tug of war with his foster sister, I would love to see more of this when he feels settled. He plays with loads of energy with his foster sister, zooming around the yard playing chase. He is most active in the cooler weather. Would enjoy relaxed walks and accompany you wherever you are really. He will need to be house trained as he marks his territory.

FOOD: Asahi is eating two meals a day which consists of SavourLife dry food and Prime 100. Does enjoy jerky style dog treats. Bones and Beef Ears he likes to bury for later and can be a little food guarding with his treasures

Independence: He sleeps outside and is comfortable being by himself or with other dogs, he will let you know when he demands company with a howl, cry or scratching at the door, mostly when we are home.

Bathing and Hygiene: He had a bath and was well behaved albeit unsure of the entire process. He will get better with washing over time.

SLEEPING: Asahi sleeps outside, he is quiet as a mouse and sleeps right through. Unless a neighbouring dog barks you will not hear a peep from him until 7am when he may tap or whimper or howl at the door.

Exercise: Asahi currently has two walks a day alongside his foster sister, for around 30 minutes at a time. Coupling this with his playtime with dogs throughout the day he spends the rest of his time sleeping.

IDEAL HOME: Asahi love’s people more than anything else, we really wish he meets the most perfect family for he is a dream best friend!! He is great with his foster sister; we feel a submissive calm female would suit his personality best. He also loves being cuddled and spending time with you wherever you may be in your home. Asahi is incredibly special, perfect, he needs a family to match!!
