About Lassie
Lassie hails from a small indigenous community in the Western Desert region of Central Australia in Pintubi/Luritja country. There are lots of dogs in this area who have medium sized bodies but short legs. Locally they are known as "Territory long dogs". Lassie's mum Gracie is one of these dogs - a lovely vigorous athletic dog, standing low to the ground. Lassie takes after her mum. We expect her to be a small medium dog of between 10 and 15 kg, a little bit shorter than she is long.
She came into care with her mum and littermates, as her owners (an elderly couple) were struggling to care for them and wanted them to be raised up to be strong and healthy and have new homes.
Lassie has a delightful gentle nature and is quite a quiet living soul compared to her more lively brothers and sisters. She is very cuddly and so sweet. We see Lassie thriving in a quiet predictable environment with lots of physical affection and love. She likes exploring in the garden, but also enjoys quiet times inside playing with her puppy toys.
Lassie will be ready to travel in mid-December, when she will be about 3 months old. She will travel to SA by air and her flight is included in her adoption fee.
Medical notes
Lassie is healthy and growing well. In addition to the usual parasite protection of worming, tick and flea prevention, and heartworm prevention, she will be tested for E Canus and the range of tick-bourne diseases endemic in the NT. I treatment is required, it will be provided.
