Jefferson is a gentle giant. But don’t let his size deceive you as he is extremely dog and people friendly. Not to mention, a big softie!

Jefferson, the sneaky cuddle monster, will have your heart in no time.
Jefferson loves his soft squeaky toys and chew bones, chasing flies, car rides and stealing snacks if he can reach them. He also loves napping at (or on) your feet while you are working from home and absolutely enjoys snoozing on the couch next to you while you are Netflix-ing. He is a happy camper and an easy-going boy who is just so full of love .

If you enjoy the company of a cheeky stickybeak who follows you around the house or garden trying to be helpful, Jefferson is your guy! He is a quick learner, calm, good with routine, playful, energetic (with an ability to switch off as required), not aggressive and receptive to commands and your vibe. It is a huge positive that he hardly ever barks unless of course he is excited about going for a walk or he is happy to have his foster carer back home. However, he stops barking when you tell him to because he is such a good boy.

Although quite large compared to his foster sisters, he is very gentle and lives extremely well with them. He doesn’t mind sharing his toys and his bed with his foster sisters and enjoys relaxing on couch with them. Currently he is also being trained to be home alone with his 2 foster sisters who are amazing at keeping an eye on him and teaching him a thing or two. While he is increasingly becoming more comfortable with the whole idea and has successfully stayed home without humans for a few hours without any anxiety, he would require further ongoing training to stay home for longer hours at a stretch and would prefer to have a doggie mate in his forever home, to keep him company.

He has shown no signs of food aggression or resource guarding and trusts his people. However, some supervision at dinner time will be helpful if you are feeding multiple dogs at the same time.

Jefferson would love to go to a home with a similar sized dog as being quite a young dog, he enjoys a good run around and playing with his doggie mates. As his energy levels are moderate, he would be happy with a medium sized backyard with regular visits to off lead dog parks, beach walks, hiking trails and all other adventures you could possibly think of.

Jefferson will benefit from continued lead training with someone who handles him with strength and confidence as he is very intuitive. So far, he has shown good recall and comes back when called so he would be a great off lead dog as well. He is friendly and playful with every dog he meets at the dog park and can fetch the ball for hours.

Being a quick learner, he is already learning commands like sit, stop, no, walk, go slow, come here etc and to wait for his food and treats, when to go to his bed and how to follow a routine.

Jefferson sleeps through the night and is toilet trained. Some training to use the doggy door will really help him to have a good mix of indoor and outdoor time. He is best suited for a home where he is included in activities, adventures, and everyday life as much as possible.

Teenagers or upper primary dog-savvy kids will be good for Jefferson. Not tested with young children although he should be fine with them after sufficient training and supervision.
