Odi | Male | Pom x Papillion | 3 years
Dog Friendly: yes but best with bigger pups
Cat Friendly: Untested
Child Friendly: No
House Trained: Yes
Energy Levels: Medium-High
Size when full grown: Small
Personality plus, in a small package.
This guy is full of zest. He loves running, sniffing swimming, adventuring, and spending time with his human.
Odi came into care due to his owners in ill-health and also some concerning behaviour, mostly fear aggression and resource guarding.
With some tough love and firm boundaries, Odi has pretty much learnt to respect the household rules.
Odi is generally good with his larger foster siblings, but is quite dominant. He would be best in a home with a larger dog who will put him in his place firmly but fairly. This guy is confident, some may call it small dog syndrome, but a good quality to have if used appropriately.
Odi still has some food aggression and resource guarding with high value treats and toys. We think it seems maybe he hasn't always felt safe, and that maybe his early signs of stress were ignored and/or that he has never had firm boundaries in his life.
We can all see he's super cute but as a dog owner, this can be much more of a hindrance with a dog with some behavioural issues.
So Odi will be looking for a home without children, and without anyone elderly.
Odi has definitely attempted to stand his ground, however I believe that when he realises, he's not met with anger or fear, and given a kind but firm direction, he listens well.
He will need grooming due to his long and thick coat. He is getting better at having his nails Dremeled (electric filing) but is not keen on the nail clippers. He does have a Dremel that will go with him to his adoptive home. He is crate trained, and has great food focus which will make him great to train. He didn't mind a bath and was pretty good being groomed.
Odi is generally sweet, energetic and clever but will need someone with experience in owning similar breeds to help him become the best version of himself. If you are interested in meeting our little pocket rocket, please provide the information you think it will be important for us to know about yourself and the home you could provide.
Odi is $350 to adopt, and comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated and given flea, tick and worm preventatives.
