About Jake
💕Jake aka Lucky, is looking for his furever home.💕
Can you be that special someone❓
Vic location
114 days ago we saved 2 brothers from a nsw pound and bought them to Vic. Their names were hugo and lucky.
Hugo has since been adopted by his foster carer but lucky, who is now called Jake by his foster carer, was not so lucky.
This poor dog really struggled with his transition into care, petrified of everything and everyone, Jake turned out to be his own worst enemy. That was until his current carer came into his life. She has been able to give him the time and space he needed to slowly accept his new beginning and the world is becoming less and less scary everyday. Although he still has a long way to go, he is getting there.
Unfortunately though, Jakes carers cannot commit to adoption at this stage of their lives so we thought it's best for Jake if we start seeking his forever home sooner rather than later so he doesn't take the move as another rejection in his life.
As wonderful as they are for him, we are concerned that the longer he is there, the more he will become attached, the harder his adoption will be for him to adapt to.
Jake deserves a life with his own family, not one in foster care forever shy we need to try for him
Jake's new family will need to understand that it is going to take love, patience and understanding to break through this wall he has put up to protect himself but when they do, they will see a side to Jake that only his current carer has been able to see. A sweet side which is screaming out for love & for stability.
Jake will be petrified upon first meet, but if you can offer him time to adjust, the end result will be absolutely amazing.
Jake isn't aggressive at all, he is scared. His fear coping mechanism is flight not fight
Here's a few important factors to take into consideration if you are thinking about being Jake's lucky charm.
* he is scared of men but is slowly coming around. consistent and slow introductions regarding men is required
*high secure fencing is required
* he will need a family who are willing to treat him like a family member and allow him to sleep inside at night.
* no cats or pocket pets
* Jake was previously tied to a clothes line with limited interactions with anyone besides his fur siblings so another dog is fine but due to only having his pack in his life previously, Introduction with another dog needs to also be slow with patience.
*Jake needs the ability to be able to decompress at his own pace
* Jake is currently taking 20mg fluxotine as prescribed by the vet to help with his anxiety, this medication costs under $50 per month and found hearts will fund the first three months of medication upon a successful adoption after which he can be weaned off the medication or continued at vets advise
This medication does not effect him in his everyday routine in the slightest, it just lowers his anxiety level so he isn't living his life in extreme fear as he was. More Information on this medication can be given if needed.
We do understand this will be a hard adoption to get as he does require a very special family who are willing to make the time and effort it will take to have a successful adoption but we can assure you every minute of it will be worth it in the and.
Currently located in mill Park Vic, Jake is desexed, vaccinated and chipped and ready for adoption.
If you think you have what it takes to transform this young 2 year old kelpie x staffy boy Into the confident and amazing dog we know he can be, please fill in the form below. Several meet and greets will be required before he can leave to form the bond that is needed for this the work.
