About Franklin- rough start, bright future!
*•*• Available for assisted adoption ~ Franklin *•*•
Meet our sweet sweet boy Franklin.
Franklin had a rough start to life. We took him in when he was 3 month old with a broken tail and jaw. His mum was used as a fighting dog while pregnant and Franklin was unfortunately treated the same.
He came with a lot of anxiety and was very VERY timid. He refused to leave the house, go on walks or get into the car. He would urinate when scared, bark at new visitors and dogs and chew/dig when left alone.
Over the past 2 years, he has come a long way! However, with the arrival of our baby he has unfortunately taken some steps back. We no longer have the time to dedicate to him and only him, so we have come to the very sad decision to find a home that he truly deserves.
Please do not consider taking our beautiful boy if you are not dedicated to putting in the effort. He will need further training, and to help with this we are including 6 private sessions with his current trainer from Animal Wellness, therefore needs to be within travelling distance to Penrith to continue his training.
Franklin is learning to walk without pulling and is starting to improve, although does pull if he becomes scared or anxious. When left alone for too long he will dig and chew. This has improved with training. He barks as dogs or people walking past the house, although is learning to come on command. He barks at visitors, so people coming over need to be onboard with coming in gently and giving him space. Franklin is fully house trained and currently sleeps in his crate with the door open. He would be easy to fully crate train if you chose to do so. Franklin needs to sleep inside as he will become reactive to noises over night. He LOVES a cuddle and will give you all his attention when he is comfortable.
Franklin is on a single protein diet due to skin irritations. We will provide a bag of his current food and treats.
Franklin currently lives with another dog who he loves and adores. He has met a few other dogs in the past 2 years, however socialising needs to be done slowly.
He knows all the basic commands like sit, shake, wait, come etc. We are happy to go through his current training with his new owners.
His new owners will need to meet the following criteria.
- At least one owner home most of the time
- No children under 16
- Only pet, or another well trained calm dog
- Patient and willing to put the effort in
- Willing to meet Franklin multiple times before taking him home in order to ease him into new people
Please message if you think Franklin would suit your family!
