Knox is a sweet, sensitive boy that you can’t help but fall in love with. He is very cat-like in that he chirps and mumbles when he has feelings and rubs his head on you when you are giving him cuddles. He will often hop up onto the couch next to you and put a paw on your leg and give a little groan.
He is quirky in a totally unassuming way. If he’s sitting near you and you call him, instead of turning toward you, he will tip his head back upside down to look at you. He’s the ultimate busy body and wants to know what you are doing at all times, opening the pantry? He will stick his head in for a look with you. Making a sandwich? He’ll stand next to you to make sure you do it right. Never feel alone again! He’ll happily be your shadow forever.
He knows how to sit, drop, shake and wait for his meals. He’s crate trained and learnt the doggy door within minutes. He travels so well in the car, he hops in and lays down immediately without a stir until you arrive at your destination. He loves a game of fetch and will bring the ball straight into your lap and is potentially a better soccer player than Ronaldo. He is less active than your average Kelpie but still needs daily walks to keep him happy.
He currently lives with a male dog and whilst they co-habitate fairly well, Knox rarely pays him attention and would much rather hang out with the humans of the house. He doesn’t quite know how to play without keeping his excitement in check so he needs to be the only pet in the home with owners that don’t spend too much time away from him.
He walks very well on a halti but being a typical kelpie, he can get over stimulated. He is all talk at a distance but is okay meeting other dogs close up. He would benefit from a firm leader and an outdoor activity such as group obedience where he can learn to focus on his handler in high distraction, busy environments.
All in all, he has a quiet charm about him. When in the home is he very calm and docile. He’s cheeky enough to keep you laughing but also cuddly and affectionate when you need it at the end of a long day.
