I've been adopted!
About Cali - 6 Month Old Border Collie (On Trial)
If you love cuddles then Cali has plenty to give. The complete package of brains, beauty and unlimited love. With her cute curly tail and plush soft fur this darling was made for cuddling.
Prior to coming into care, Cali had virtually no exposure to the outside world but is learning quickly what all the sounds found outside a yard are. Super smart, within just one week in foster care she had learnt sit, stay, come and rollover. She is toilet trained, can use a doggie door and will sleep all night in her crate.
Cali has been in foster care with 2 young children, 5 and 7 years old and an older dog. They’ve created a wonderful bond, with the children teaching Cali to zig zag around poles to earn a treat! The perfect family for Cali will have either children for her to play with, or preferably another dog to keep her company and teach her more about being a dog. She’s very inquisitive and as such will readily learn new games. Cali will not be suited to a home where she has no company through the day, and will need either a stay-at-home/ work-from-home human, or another dog.
The new family Cali chooses must be prepared to continue her training. She is currently lead reactive, though super friendly off lead. But for her ongoing socialization she must become more confident walking on lead. Given she is so smart and treat motivated, we’d expect any training to be pretty easy. She’d probably love some agility training too for a motivated family.
She may dig if she gets bored, an easy fix is a sandpit with hidden treats. Cali has shown no inclination to try to escape a yard, but a good size play area and secure 5’ fences are a must. Because of her desirable looks, we will be quite strict with yard security. The yard must have locked gates and she must not be visible from the road.
