About Bandit STK00269
Bandit came to us a very scared stray who had never experienced human love or interaction, we placed him with an experienced foster carer to work with him and show him humans can be trusted and loved.
Bandit’s perfect home is quiet, calm, experienced and patient. A home without children or other pets.
From his Foster Carer – Bandit was scared, anxious, hissy and hid in his room or carrier for weeks when her first arrived. He was terrified and would flinch from any human touch. He would only come out at night when the house was quiet and he would play with his toys and explore, but if anyone came out he would retreat to his room.
Three months later with a lot of patience and persistence Bandit started interacting and chatting with the household. He loves to play with shoelaces, jingle balls and at nap time sit on the couch and watch TV. He loves to follow you around and receive pats and attention. It took some work to get Bandit to a stage where he could be picked up and cuddled, he isn’t 100% comfortable with a cuddle yet but he is still young and earning his trust will be the key.
Bandit is very food motivated and it would be easy to over feed him, which isn’t a healthy option long term for him. He is excellent with his litter tray.
He is still a bit hesitant and will likely regress at first in his new home but with the right person who is willing to continue to work with him and win over his trust and love he will again show his gorgeous personality.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
