About Lenny 🦴
Introducing Lenny, our 7mth old Jack Russell Terrier….
Sadly, this little man has found his way into Rescue after being shuffled between homes a number of times. Whilst he may be small….he is most certainly not suited to an apartment life or a home where he would be left alone for long periods of time. We will not be placing this boy into a home where he will be set up to fail again, so please take the time to read about his needs….
If any dog can top the high energy of a Fox Terrier, it might be a Jack Russell.
If any dog can top the hard-as-nails hunting skills of a Border Terrier, it might be a Jack Russell.
A solitary or sedate lifestyle is not suited to a JRT. He requires full participation in the family and vigorous daily play sessions, especially ball chasing, which they tend to be passionate about…or slightly obsessive. Too little exercise, too little companionship, and too little mental stimulation will quickly lead to boredom, which in turn leads to destructive behaviours. They are not apartment dogs, nor are they suited to people who work a lot….unless you have another high energy dog.
The best way to give Lenny some ‘down time’ is provide him with a crate. He will quite happily rest in there and sleeps soundly through the night whilst crated 😊
Lenny is happy go lucky with strangers, but his energy level is too much for little ones….a home with children over the age of 10yrs is recommended. He is quick to bark, quick to chase, lively, bossy, stubborn and persistent, which is what you get with a JRT.
He is highly intelligent and has the ability to learn almost anything, very quickly….the hardest part of training him is convincing him that he actually has to do what he has learnt, when you say so, even when he’s not in the mood.
Lenny needs a home where he will have the opportunity to vent his energy and do interesting things. If you can offer him a life where he can be trained in agility training (obstacle course), advanced obedience, flyball, or ‘earthdog’ training, this would certainly keep him busy.
Lenny is located in Hamlyn Terrace on the Central Coast NSW and available to adopt now.

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
