BREED: Red Heeler X (Australian Cattle Dog)
Breed Traits: Affectionate, devoted and protective of family but can be wary of strangers. Usually attaches to one person and loves to be close. Very high energy and highly intelligent - they love to have a job and if not mentally and physically worked enough they will be destructive. Bred to herd by nipping so is mouthy and will nip cattle, children, pets, cars, anything that moves. They have a strong prey drive with other small animals unless reared with them. Not for novice owners.

ASSETS: Affectionate, eager to please, friendly, active, playful and very sweet. Pancake is a delight to have around with her affectionate and playful personality.

FAVOURITE THINGS: Pancake loves to play with the other dog in her foster home and her favourite activities are fetch and tug of war. She loves spending time at the beach and enjoys being out and about and active. She also loves cuddle time with her person!

ENDEARING FEATURES: She's incredibly intelligent and picks up things very easily. She has mastered commands in under 10 minutes and loves to be doing new things. She also has a great party trick! If you say 'bang' and point your finger she will drop and roll onto her back.

OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with other friendly dogs and would either love another youngish dog to play with in her new home or have a home where she gets to meet other dogs regularly. She is overly focused on small animals and is very curious, so we won't home her with any for their safety.

GENERAL INFO: Pancake needs some training on her lead as she tugs at present in her excitement to get out and experience new things and people. She isn't a fan of being left alone and can dig when bored. She is mostly housetrained but has the odd accident if left alone for a period of time. She will bark at strangers or other new animals but is attending the local dog club and is improving in this regard with regular gentle exposure. She's great with her command training and would benefit from attending agility classes where her active mind can be put to good use. She can be protective of her food and toys around other dogs so will need to be separated at mealtimes. Pancake is crate trained and being such an active dog, this is excellent for her, so that she can switch off mentally and physically after activity.

ESSENTIALS for Pancake:
* A loving and active home where someone is there for most of the day or can take her out and about.
* An owner who will continue to train her and give her plenty of mental stimulation.
* A good walk at least twice a day and play/training time will keep her happy and healthy.
* A well fenced, secure yard with some grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
* To be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
* To be included as part of the family and involved in family activities

Pancake would be better suited to an adult home or with older children as she can be a bit hyper around young children and will jump up and can nip in her excitement to see them.

Even though Pancake has been fostered with another dog she may be better suited as an only dog - she loves to be the centre of attention and can be a little jealous if she has to share her human. She can also be protective of food and toys from other dogs. If her human can provide enough activity, companionship and doggy play dates, she would be amazingly happy.
