About Alfred
Alfred is our stunning Cavoodle, born on 9th February, 2022 - making him almost 11 months old. He has a beautiful nature and can be a real character - Mr Personality!! He is ready to go to his new home after spending the last couple of months running around with his dog friends on the farm. HE MUST HAVE ANOTHER DOG FOR COMPANY. This is non-negotiable.
Everyone knows the Cavoodle breed now, they are a mix of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. The Cavoodle is a lively and very affectionate companion - they enjoy being part of the family unit and love to participate in the activities of the day. Cavoodles have a very gentle nature and Alfred is no exception!!
They can be quite vocal and can bark when visitors arrive, like most dogs!! However, they are not aggressive. The Cavoodle is an intelligent dog that thrives with regular training and human interaction. Alfred is NOT suitable to being left alone at home for long periods during the day and he MUST HAVE another doggy companion already living in the home.
Alfred needs daily walks (in a secure harness) to keep his energy levels under control. He must have a medium/large yard so that he has plenty of room to run around and play in and have 24 hour access inside the home at all times.
Cavoodles usually do not shed and are often recommended for allergic people. Their coats do take a great deal of care though, generally requiring professional grooming (every 6 weeks) as well as regular combing and brushing at home. Their ears need frequent cleaning or they may become infected, daily teeth brushing is recommended, but not every dog tolerates it, unless commenced at a very early age. Eyes also need special attention and cleaning to prevent a build up eye discharge and tear staining.
If you want to own a Cavoodle, you need to be prepared for all the extra COSTS and CHORES that come along with the responsibility of owning this breed.
Alfred will require good, secure fencing and gates (preferably colourbond) to keep him safe and secure. This breed is highly sought after still, and thefts are not uncommon.
He comes de-sexed, fully vaccinated, wormed and with heartworm yearly protectioin (SR12 Proheart) and tick prevention.
Alfred will make a wonderful family pet and it should be remembered that a dog is for life - you need to be prepared to love and care for him for the next 12-14 years.
Applications to adopt Alfred are now being accepted, however we will be taking as much time as is needed in order to find the perfect home for him.
Medical notes
Alfred is a healthy dog. No issues.

.......................
Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. is trying to expand its foster carer network so that we can help more dogs in need. This is a very rewarding experience and suits a variety of people. Some people, for whatever reason, are unable to make a permanent commitment to a dog, a commitment which can last for up to 15 years. Others use the fostering experience as an interim measure before committing to permanently owning a dog. If you think you could be interested in becoming a foster carer, either on a long-term or a short-term basis, and would like more information please contact Nigel on 6584 4992 or Wendy on 6584 7027.
