Hi, I’m Shadow!
When I first arrived at the facility, I was so scared, but in time I have become more confident especially around the people I know. I still need some work on my confidence around new people and new environment, so my new owners will have to be patient and understanding of this.
Due to my timidity, I would be best for a family who has owned dogs before and can read basic behaviour to know when I am overwhelmed or uncomfortable.
I am a kelpie, which are typically an active and intelligent breed. I’d love to go on little adventures to quiet areas where I can use my all my senses to explore my surroundings. This is a great way to stimulate me mentally and physically! Otherwise, puzzle feeders and food hide and seek games around the house and backyard would be great too.
I absolutely adore affection. I roll straight onto my back for belly rubs and get so excited when I’m getting attention from humans. Sometimes I like to do zoomies, so a backyard with secure fencing would be ideal for me.
It would be great if my owners let me inside when they’re home so I can cuddle up at their feet and accept belly massages.
I’d be better with older children just to ensure I am always comfortable and don’t get overwhelmed by loud noises and fast movements. I have met other dogs at the facility, and they are quite scary to be around! But I may be open to meeting dogs who are my size or smaller, and similar in nature.
I’m not very interested in toys here, but that may come in time once I’m settled into my new home.
If I sound like the perfect little one for you, submit an expression of interest below!
