About Pluto
Pluto- His name perfectly describes this boy, out of this world! Besides the fact he is drop dead GORGEOUS, Pluto also has the personality to match. He is goofy, affectionate and social. What more could you ask for?
To get right to the point, we will only be looking for a home that has giant dog experience. Pluto came from a rural NSW pound and we were told mum was a big dane x and dad was a massive purebred great dane. Due to the fact we didn’t meet either parent and have no knowledge of their temperaments, it is only responsible that we find dane or giant dog experienced homes who know how to properly raise a giant breed puppy.
Pluto has been having a ball in care and is currently living with a few other large breed dogs and a cat. He gets on well with all people and animals in the household. His new owners should have at least one other existing dog of large to giant size and of good nature to ensure this giant always has an appropriate play buddy. He loves to go out and about and will follow his handler wherever they go and Pluto is appropriately confident in new situations. Pluto will need his new family to continue his socialisation with other dogs, people and places so he continues to grow up into a well balanced adult dog.
Pluto is learning basic training while in care. He is very smart and eager to please. His foster carer notes he loves to be intellectually stimulated so will need a home who can not only fulfil his physical needs, but his mental enrichment needs too. He sleeps through the night in a crate and is learning to walk on a leash. His toilet training is a work in progress so his new owners should be committed to continuing this. He can get a bit carsick, but this unfolded due to a very long transport trip to foster care from rural NSW, so with positive reinforcement to make the car a happy place, this should dissipate over time. Being a giant breed, Pluto will need to have a great deal of training put into him to ensure he is a pleasure to have in society- he is not the sort of puppy you can just take to puppy school and call it a day on training.
We are looking for a home in a quieter area (ie no inner city) who has a backyard and can plenty of opportunities for a dane to stretch their legs in a safe and appropriate way. He will need another dog for companionship, someone home more often than not and if there are children in the home they need to be extremely dog savvy as Danes are big, lanky and very clumsy so children will be knocked over.
He will need a home that understands age appropriate exercise and can provide an excellent quality diet and supplements to ensure Pluto can grow up to be the fittest and healthiest boy he can be. He will need to be included as part of the family and provided with many fulfilling adventures and experiences. He needs to be allowed inside as part of the family and provided a comfy bed to sleep on inside of a night.
Due to the large volume of expected applications, please provide extensive information as to your giant breed experience, the lifestyle you can provide Pluto and any other relevant information that will help your application stand out from the others. We only have limited time to call applications so will be shortlisting a small number of applicants to take to the next stage in the process a phone interview.
Note below: please be aware Pluto’s adoption fee is slightly higher than our usual puppy adoption fee. This is due to the fact we will be delaying his desexing until he is skeletally mature at 12-18 months and by this time he will be a giant sized dog and the desexing cost will be triple what we usually pay, so the increase in fee is simply to cover the extra costs incurred to the rescue.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
