The beautiful sweet and simply stunning Cheeky is now seeking his forever home
The gorgeous Cheeky is a Labrador x German Shepherd of med size who weighs in at 26 kilos.
Cheeky is a special guy who is the most loving and sweet boy who you cannot possibly fall in love with. A gentle and natural joker this sweet boy will have your heart forever
With his handsome looks and his heart of gold this boy is a beautiful pup who will make a great addition to most families.
When Cheeky gets excited he is full of beans and can do zoomies for minutes on end. Good thing about a high energy and such intelligent dog is that he’ll find a way to tire himself out!
Cheeky loves water and will play in his plastic splash pool on hot days to keep himself cool
Cheeky is deaf but don't be deterred about giving him his forever home as he has learnt to manage this as can his new family. He is highly intelligent so will be able to learn signals and develop a language with you.
Cheeky has a little tilt with his head and this does seem to affect his directional sense as he loves to do little circles around you especially ( neurological) when he gets excited to see you lol
He's a very sweet boy who will make a wonderful addition to the right home

Walks
We have found Cheeky to walk best whilst on his halti with minimal pulling. Due to his neurological issue ( no further investigation required) , he tends to want to walk/run in a circle if given free range so a short leash and halti keep him on track and focused.

Currently Cheeky enjoys 2 x 30 min walks daily (undoubtedly his favorite part of the day). He does require a daily walk and or playtime to keep him stimulated
Food
Cheeky currently has a diet of both wet and dry food, eating dry food in the morning and a mixture of both in the evening. Cheeky enjoys having a kong left for him to play with and we have found these keep him entertained. Cheeky has been spoiled with fresh bones from his foster family, which he loves & keeps him busy.
Medical
Cheeky had both of his ears flushed as they were full of gunk causing an ear infection when he came into our care. This has now been addressed and we recommend an ear spray cleaner be used every few weeks.
Cheeky as we noted earlier is deaf and has a very slight head tilt. This requires no further action and he functions just fine
Obedience
Cheeky is a relatively well behaved pup and such a smart boy. With ongoing training and patience, he will amaze you!! As he is deaf, he will look to you for guidance and reassurance through lots of eye contact. You will benefit from understanding and investing time in developing his recall as a deaf dog.
He has learnt to sit for treats and had blown us away how quickly he picked that up (as he was constantly running around before and wouldn’t know to sit). He will sit and wait for his food when this is being prepped, his love for food helps with training and obedience. He will require further training with his new family to ensure you can communicate with him as much as possible .
Indoor / Outdoor
Cheeky stays mostly outside during the day and the evenings, however is let in with his foster family in the evening during tv time. He will want to cuddle right up to you, and will give his best puppy dog eyes for some couch time with you. He can be restless inside initially however has slowly learnt that he can relax with time and have a nap inside. You’ll even forget he is inside, super quiet and still….until he lets a few snores out to remind you!


Socialization
Cheeky has tested well with one of the Rescue female dogs, he was overwhelmed with excitement and curiosity when he first met her. He impressed her with his zoomies. Cheeky loves getting pats and having strangers stop for a back scratch on a walk.
Cheeky is very playful, actually never stops so he is really best suited as an only dog as he is definitely too much to live with.
Enrichment
Cheeky has shown us he finds lots of enjoyment in bones, kongs and his shell pool (although despises the hose!.) He gets a lot out of his interaction with his humans. Most of all, he adores people and will always want to ensure you’re close by.
Car
Cheeky has had a number of car trips whilst in our car, long and short, and he quite enjoys them. He will often try to poke his head between the front seats because he loves his family so much and doesn’t want to miss out!
Ideal Home
medium - large size yard for him to run and play with his new family - must have plenty of room for zoomies. He must have access to shelter and shade.
Only dog home but loves to play hard with other dogs.
A home where he is included in activities both inside and out and treated as part of the family
Best suited to children over the age of 8 who are dog experienced and confident
