About Izzie
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Izzie
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Kelpie x Blue Heeler
Breed Traits: Kelpies are high energy and highly intelligent being a working breed, so may need to be found a 'job' to make them feel fulfilled. They get bored easily if their brains are not worked, so training is a must. They are very social with adults and children and social with other dogs. They are very loyal but if the instinct is strong they may try to herd your children
Australian Cattle Dog/Heeler: Affectionate, devoted and protective of family but can be wary of strangers. Usually attaches to one person and loves to be close. Very, very high energy and highly intelligent - they love to have a job and if not mentally and physically worked enough they will be destructive. Bred to herd by nipping so is mouthy and may nip cattle, children, pets, cars, anything that moves. They have a strong prey drive with other small animals unless reared with them. Not for novice owners.
*****************************************************************************************************************************
ASSETS: Affectionate, friendly, obedient, active, playful and very sweet. Izzie is a little shy initially when meeting new people but is very friendly once she's happy in your company.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Izzie loves to play fetch and tug of war with her rope toy and loves to play with tennis balls. She enjoys outings to the beach and adores water and chasing bubbles. She also enjoys cuddle time on the couch with her person.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She's always so happy to see you and will greet you as you walk in the door. She's great with kids and is very 'talkative' (she howls/talks when she's excited).
OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with other friendly dogs and could either live with another dog around her own age that will allow her to chill when she needs to or have a home where she gets to meet other dogs regularly. She is untested with small animals so we won't home her with any for their safety.
GENERAL INFO: Izzie needs some training on her lead as she tugs at present in her excitement to get out and experience new things and people - she has worn a halti in the past to help with the pulling. She is housetrained and will bark when someone is at the door or at strangers/new animals. She's great with her command training and is very obedient as she loves to please. Izzie is not destructive and is of medium energy.
