Loving and energetic Gambie is now seeking his forever home. Gambie is 12 weeks old and weighs in at 8 kilos. He is currently a healthy weight and should grow into a medium Kelpie size boy
In true Kelpie style, he is full of energy and loves to run around the house playing and chasing his foster sister. He loves people and will jump onto the couch and give you a big smooch but prefers to sleep nearby rather than in your lap.
Gambie has just been vaccinated and is enjoying going on short walks around the neighbourhood and is so well behaved on the lead. He seems very eager to learn and has mastered sit, and is working on new commands.
Gambie would love to be a part of an active family that will take him on adventures and outings on a regular basis. He is a high energy dog so his adopter must be able to commit to 1-2 walks or activities per day everyday.

FAVOURITE THINGS
Gambie spends most of his day playing with his foster sister. They run around the house and yard constantly playing chess and wrestling.
He also loves to play with his squeaky toys and will chew them or play fetch.
He loves to get out of the house and is getting used to going for walks around the neighbourhood.
INTERACTION WITH HUMANS
Gambie is happy to be around people. He has bonded with his foster mum after being a little timid at first. There haven’t been many visitors to his foster home but he can jump on them in excitement, as well as his foster mum when she gets home. Ignoring him seems to get him to calm down. Heaus will greet new people in public and will waggle his little butt toward them for a pat.
Gambie has not met any children or elderly people while in foster. He is still very much in the stage of puppy mouthing and right into teething, so as typical normal puppy behaviour Gambie is no different and will need a family that can manage this while he goes through this puppy stage ( Puppy teeth hurt lol )
OBEDIENCE/TRAINING
Gambie is a clever boy but can also get up to the usual puppy mischief.
He is very good with his sit command and is starting to learn others. We haven’t been using his name so he will happily adapt to whatever name you choose for him. He is a very sweet boy but does get in to trouble chewing things he shouldn’t so make sure your cords and shoes are not left where he can get them!
ANIMAL SOCIAL SKILLS
Gambie's favourite thing is playing with his foster sister. They will play all day long. He has met a few other dogs and seems keen to socialise with them!

He hasn’t met any other animals while in foster care.
FOOD
Gambie eats 3 times a day and will eat a cup of Ivory Coat Grain Free Dry Dog Food Puppy Salmon And Ocean Fish at each meal. We use his kibble for treats which he will take gently from your hand. He eats most of his meals out of a simple puzzle feeder and has quickly learnt how to flip open the cups.
INDEPENDENCE
Gambie is fine being left alone with his foster sister and will play or nap with her.
He is getting better at being left on his own and will usually nap inside or outside. He can be a little less settled when on his own and may find other ways to keep himself entertained like taking washing off the line and can sook sometimes. He would love to have the company of a playful medium to large female dog in his new home to keep him entertained. Or his new family should make sure he has lots of enriching activities and space to play when he is left home alone.
HYGIENE
Gambie will only need an occasional bath and brush. He has a short sleek coat that is beautiful to pat.
SLEEPING
At night Gambie sleeps in a crate near his foster mums bed. He has gotten used to sleeping here during foster care and no longer cries when he is locked in. He is quite active during the day and will take short naps in his dog bed, on the cool floor if the weather is warm, and stretched out at the opposite end of the couch in the evening.
EXERCISE
Gambie will need to be exercised 1-2 times a day everyday. He is a very active boy and will get bored if he is not properly stimulated. At the moment he gets one 15-30 minute walk a day as he can only go on short walks while he is still a young pup. We also spend time training commands to keep his mind active. He walks well on the lead, he doesn’t pull and will usually walk by your side. He is still adjusting to being out and about so may freeze if he hears a loud car or lawn mower and will take a second to figure out what it is.
INSIDE THE HOME
Gambie’s foster home only has a small backyard so he has free access to the indoor and outdoor spaces as he likes. He knows how to use a dog door and is nearly toilet trained. He will take himself out to do his business. He hasn’t pooped inside in the last week, but may do an occasional wee each day. We take him out when he gets up in the morning, before bed, and after meals to ensure he does his business outside.
He can chew and destroy things left out as all puppies do so make sure to puppy proof the areas he will be in.
IDEAL HOME
Gambie would love to be a part of an active family that takes him out on walks, to sports and on adventures.
He must be walked/exercised 1-2 times a day regardless of the weather.
A medium to large backyard with grass and shelter is a must.
A home with children is okay as long as they are dog savvy and should be 10 or older.
His new family must understand that he is still a puppy and may have accidents inside, is still mouthing and biting, and still has a lot of learning to do.
You should take him to puppy school/obedience classes so he can socialise and learn to be the best boy!
Gambie has a lot of love to give his forever family and will be a very special member of your family.
Gambie will be a typical high energy Kelpie boy so we see a family that have the time to ensure he is stimulated and exercised throughout his life
