About Olly
Olly | Male | Great Dane X | 8-9 months old approx
Dog friendly: yes
Cat friendly: untested
Child friendly: yes
House trained: yes
Crate trained: yes
Desexed: yes
Energy Level: low, but loves to play with his foster brother.
Adult Size: Large to Extra large (currently 32 kg)
Olly is a BIG but very gentle puppy. He is very clever and has quickly learned to catch treats and can almost sit and wait until told he can eat his dinner. He is very dog friendly and has shown no aggression whatsoever towards his foster brother and sister. He even got into a tug of war with a chicken frame and when told to leave it and come and get another one, he did so happily.
He was very thin when he entered foster care though and still gets very excited at dinner time. He has now put on enough weight that his ribs and spine are not showing anymore.
Olly loves the company of other dogs, we think he may also do well as an only dog. He will come and find you if he does not know where you are but isn’t anxious or clingy. He loves a pat and a cuddle but he will also lie on the floor where he is told and leave you in peace when needed. He gets bonus points for shedding hardly any hair!
Olly has already started acting like a guard dog and will visit the front fence to bark a few times when he is unsure who is there. His deep ‘WOOF’ is very distinctive and it will be obvious in the dark that he is a big dog! He rarely barks too much and on those occasions has immediately returned when his name is called.
He has quickly learned not to jump up on people or tables and benches but still occasionally forgets his manners when food is around, so will need to continue to be reminded of the good manners he has started to develop.
Olly would suit many situations but would need supervision around small children due to his size and the fact that he is still a puppy. He is a gorgeous, soulful dog and will make a wonderful companion and pet.
Olly is $350 to adopt, and comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated and given flea, tick and worm preventatives.
