About Percy
Percy is a stunning three-year-old English Staffy with the most amazing, goofy personality. He is unlike many staffies, very chill and spends most of his day relaxing in the sun. We are yet to hear him bark or cry and he has no issues being left alone during the day as long as he has a backyard to relax in.
If you are seeking a chilled out loving and super well behaved English Staffy, then Percey is definitely your boy
He is a stunning Blue Brindle and weighs in at 23 kilos and definitely a well bred boy

Favorite things –
Percy’s favourite activity is to chill with his family. He very rarely gets bored and is happy to just be in the same space as his family. He is such an easy-going dog that really doesn't require much to be happy and content. If he gets a half an hour walk per day, he is content. Percy is built for lovin not marathoning lol
Interaction with humans -
Percy loves all people but greets them very gently. He rarely jumps up and doesn’t get overly excited when seeing people. He usually runs up to them and throws himself on his back asking for a belly rub. He hasn’t had much interaction with children while in foster care, but we can’t imagine him being anything short of amazing with them. He has such a gentle and kind personality that we believe he would be great around kids. Percy hasn’t shown any signs of having issues with certain people, he simply seems to love everyone he meets.
Obedience / Training-
Percy knows sit, no, and comes when called over as long as there isn’t something more interesting catching his attention. He doesn’t seem very interested in learning tricks, but he is so well behaved that it isn't an issue. We don’t think he would do well off lead as he is quite easily distracted, but that is of course something that can be worked on. He walks amazingly on lead, however. He doesn’t pull and walks at a comfortable speed. He is a very pleasant dog to walk. Percy travels very well in the car. He will jump in by himself and usually lies down straight away and takes a nap. He seems to really enjoy car rides.
Animal Social Skills -
Percy hasn’t had a lot of exposure to other dogs while in foster care. He has only met other dogs while out on walks, but then he has been very well behaved. The only time he got a bit grumpy was when he met a dog at a cafe that growled at him, but it was easily managed, and he had no problems sitting at a table a couple metres away from said dog while we had lunch. When he greets other dogs, he usually gets a little bit excited and walks up and says hi, but then he is happy to move on. He isn’t very playful and is happy to just have a little sniff and then keep walking.
If we were to consider another dog home for him we would only seek a female dog companion who is VERY well socliased and doesn't growl at other dogs as we are unsure of Percy's reaction.
Percy hasn’t had any interactions with any other pets while in foster care, but the pound reported that he is friendly with cats, which we totally believe. He has such a calm personality, and we haven’t seen any prey drive in him. He doesn’t chase birds etcetera.
Food-
Percy eats ‘Leaps and Bounds – Lamb with rice and rosemary’ dry food. He is fed twice a day and he always finishes his food. He eats in a gentle way and doesn’t scoff his food down like some dogs. He hasn’t shown any signs of food aggression, we can take his food off him with no issues.
Independence -
Percy is very independent and has no issues being left alone as long as it is outside. If left inside, he can get destructive. When outside he hasn’t dug or chewed on anything. He has some toys and bones outside, but we haven’t seen him play with them or chew on his bones. He usually just sleeps in his kennel, or if the sun is out, he sunbathes. To give him an activity we sometimes spread his breakfast kibbles in the grass, he seems to enjoy that. Other than that, he is happy to just relax, especially if he has been on a longer (around 30 minutes) morning walk.
Percy can be like a little wombat and if a soft area of dirt under the gate he will dig a little hole enough to fit his little chubby wombat body through and go and visit the neighbourhood lol He did this on one occasion and once we removed the soft dirt he has not attempted since
Bathing and Hygiene -
Percy has been to the dog wash once since in foster care and he behaved very well, even though he didn’t seem to love it. Since the weather has warmed up he seems more interested in water, so he might enjoy a swim on a warm day.
Percy is overall a very clean dog and he doesn’t drag in dirt from the backyard the way some dogs do.
Sleeping -
Percy sleeps outside and seems very content and happy with that. He always runs out when we open the door at night, and usually goes straight into his kennel. While he was healing from his desexing we had him sleeping in the laundry for a couple of nights, but he didn’t enjoy it. We think he would prefer to continue sleeping outside, unless he was allowed in the bedroom, then he would probably prefer that.
Exercise -
Percy is happy with 30-60 minutes of walking per day. Ideal would probably be 2x30 minutes each day, but he is also fine with less. During some of the heavily rainy days we had, we barely walked him at all and he didn’t show any signs of getting restless.
Inside the home -
Percy behaves very well inside as long as someone is home with him. We do not recommend leaving him unsupervised inside, as he has shown that he can get destructive then. Outside however, he has not shown any signs of being destructive.
We are not 100% sure of how toilet trained he is. He had a couple of accidents over the first couple of days in foster care, but since then he hasn’t had any so we think he might just have been marking, or the stress of travelling and moving homes caused it. He has even scratched on the back door once when he needed to go outside, so we do believe he is toilet trained.
Medical issues
Percy had an ear infection when he came from the pound and is currently being treated with Otomax twice per day. Treatment will be finished 16/11. There was some ear dermatitis which is on the medn and he has a week left of drops to finish
Ideal Home-
The ideal home for Percy would be someone who likes to spend time with him and is happy to go for walks with him.
Someone who does not work extended hours
Percy is fine to be left alone outside during the days, as long as he has shelter, but would of course prefer to spend as much time as possible with his family.
A home with any size yard is fine ( Apartments with balconies need NOT apply ) as Percy is a very chilled boy so does not require a large yard but the yard must be sure have plenty of shade and shelter and grass for his napping times
We believe Percy would be fine with children of any age, but he is not a dog that will run around and play with the kids for hours. He is more the kind of dog that will cuddle with the kids on the sofa.
Percy would be happy as an only dog, but we also think he would be okay with a medium sized female dog, as long as her energy levels somewhat matches his and that they are not aggressive in any way
Percy is a truly amazing Staffy and derives a truly amazing home
We were told that he was fine with cats and we have not tested this but we feel he most probably should be ok. in saying that we would be seeking a home that have dog savvy cats and a home that the cats can be separated if needed
