About Daisy and Rosie
Daisy (6kg) and Rosie (4kg) are a bonded pair of 3-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixes, and although they are different in personality, they are a pair of beautifully natured girls.
They came from a home where they had limited socialisation with people and no socialisation in the outside world away from their home. On arrival into foster care, they were quiet, timid, and very scared. On night 2, they felt comfortable to sleep on plush beds, either together or close to each other. A few nights later they ventured onto a plush blanket on the lounge which still is proving very popular. They have also both started playing with toys, throwing them up in the air and playing tug-of-war with each other which is wonderful to see. They both sleep through the night and are both doggie-door and house-trained.
Of course, their new home will be a new environment so their new family will have to have some patience and set them up to succeed not just expect them to know where to go in their new environment It appears initially they may have been fed from the same plate, however, once Rosie starts eating from her plate, Daisy will join in next to her.
Rosie is the more adventurous of the pair, just loving running through the Lilli Pilli hedge and other interesting plants, often coming inside with muddy feet. Daisy is more mature and walks well on the lead. Rosie tends to be bit more overstimulated on walks, hopping and jumping about, finding anything that flies or runs. . Her carer has been working on her leash walks and after a bit of initial excitement is able to leave what has distracted her and continue the walk
A home where their daily outings can continue is a must so that the girls can continue to get their daily exercise and experience new things whilst not being too overwhelmed. They are just a delight and funny pair to have around and after just a few weeks in foster care are affectionate and very trusting, laying on their backs for a scratch and cuddle offering licks from time to time.
Their new family will need to be calm, kind, and have patience whilst they adjust again to their new surroundings, but be assured, once they are comfortable, they will be the best company and entertainment for their new family.
As with all our dogs, they must always have access inside. Daisy and Rosie would prefer a home where their new family is not away from for long periods as it is important that their new family have the time to settle them in and continue to socialise them slowly in the world outside of the home, using only force-free training methods.
They both love other small friendly dogs so if you have another dog in your home that would be ok. Once you meet them you will absolutely fall in love.
