About Dusty SUK010358
We all know the old saying “Cats Have Slaves” well we are pretty sure Dusty wrote this saying. Dusty is a stunning boy with a magnificent glossy, silky coat and a tail every other cat would be envious of. But before you rush into meet this stunning specimen you need to know some home truths about our Dusty.
Dusty has attitude, you may say “oh that’s what makes him even more special” well his attitude is that of a spoilt child who has never heard the word “NO”. Dusty is, in a nutshell – defiant, feisty, strong willed and throws temper tantrums when he doesn’t get his own way. If you try to get him to do something he doesn’t want to, he throws an almighty temper tantrum and sounds like he is being tortured (which he is not).
He is affectionate on his terms, he is not a lap sitter and will not tolerate being cuddled or picked up, yes yet another temper tantrum.
So why would anyone consider adopting Dusty? Well because we know inside that tough guy exterior there is an affectionate, playful and friendly personality. Dusty needs a strong willed experienced human who has the strength, patience and stamina to continue working with and teaching him. He has learnt “NO” but with every new person he tries bluff and be the boss again.
His home must be no children, seniors or other pets, with a water fountain and access to a secure enclose for the safety of other cats in the area.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
