About Fergie
Meet Fergie! Fergie is an english foxhound who was released to us from a research facility. She is a 6 year old big goof! She is large, being a foxhound (about 30kg) and she isn't quite aware of her size, so small kids might knocked over, bigger kids might be okay, but she is untested.
She is, like all foxhounds ultimately lazy, but does love to go for a walk and have a sniff while. Being a scent hound she is driven by her nose, so she must be kept on lead at all times outside of the home. She needs secure fencing too. She wont dig or climb or do any naughty stuff, but she might steal your sandwich if you leave it unattended!
She may have the odd accident while she gets her bearings in a new environment, but she is a clean girl as long as she has access to outside.
Fergie is snuggly, cuddly and happy. All she wants in this worlds is love, attention and some belly scratches. She loves other dogs and could have another one for company during the times when the humans are out or away. She also LOVES humans and loves being with them, she MUST be an indoor dog with an indoor bed at night time. She is an easy going and easy to love!
Fergie is a "male pseudohermaphrodite". This means when she was desexed, they removed testes from where her ovaries should have been. On the outside she looks just like a girl dog but inside she was a boy dog. She does require more investigation to make sure that everything is settling in after her de-sexing surgery and to see if further surgery is needed. At BFA we will cover all the costs of this and anything related to her medical health while in foster care. For this reason we are looking for a foster home that can transport Fergie to and from any of her medical appointments. And help her while she recovers form her current surgery. This is only for a week or so til her stitches come out and then she can go for walks, have a back or splash around in puddles (which she LOVES to do!)
Fergie is otherwise happy and healthy and this condition doesn't not affect her behaviour or health in any way.
Please get in touch with us if you are in need of some hound love and have a spare spot on your couch for this amazing hound.
