About Lizzie
Lizzie, the Lounge Lizard is ready to crash-land onto your couch and into
your heart. 4-year-old Liz is dressed to impress, our delightful black
beauty sports white toe socks and classy white tuxedo.
With a heart of gold, Lizzy is the biggest lovebug – she’ll greet you at
the door with her windmill tail in hyperdrive and will never, ever say no to
a snuggle. She’s a lapdog in disguise and she absolutely can fit into that
tiny slice of available couch space.
It's a full-time job making sure her humans are supervised. Like many
greyhounds, Lizzy likes to shadow her humans, she’s very thoughtful and will
even make sure that you don’t fall into the loo! She provides a foot warming
service and if you get low on serotonin, she’ll nuzzle your free hand to
remind you to fill up on those good feels.
One disadvantage of being such a good shadow supervisor is that when
Lizzy’s humans must tear themselves away from her company, she just doesn’t
quite know what to do with herself. She’s still learning that ‘me-time’ is
indeed a good thing.
The way to Lizzie's heart is food, a full toy basket and just being with
you! Squeaky toys transform our darling girl into Lizzo and she absolutely
slays. The performance of goober antics and her sheer love of play will
really make you laugh.
She is the perfect travel companion and adores the car and all the good
sniffs! She loves the company of another grey, but is still learning that
other dog breeds aren’t scary. Calm, gentle introductions with easy-going
dogs will help.
Lizzy’s love and happiness is audible – she’s simply chattering with joy at
the thought of a home where her parents are home often, and where she has a
suitable medium or large dog companion!
No cats or small dogs
No full time workers unless some working from home or there is another dog

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
