About Missy
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Missy
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Kelpie x Border Collie
Breed Traits:
Kelpies are high energy and intelligent, so may need to be found a 'job'. They get bored easily if their brains are not worked, so training is a must. They are loyal and very social with people and dogs. If the instinct is strong, they may try to herd your children.
Border Collies were bred to herd sheep they are a sensitive breed that needs company. Affectionate with family and people friendly. Highly intelligent and easy to train they need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation - they are not cuddly couch potatoes and need a job. They will herd anything that moves such as children, cars, bikes etc. They need an active owner, not a novice owner.

ASSETS: Easygoing, affectionate, eager to please, friendly, active, playful and very sweet. Missy didn't have the best start in life but has come alive in foster care and is loving everything and everyone that she encounters.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Missy loves to get out and about on new adventures so loves her walks. She enjoys play, wrestling with the other dog in her foster home and loves stuffed toys, although she always rips the stuffing out of them! She also loves cuddle time with her person!
ENDEARING FEATURES: She's incredibly intelligent and picks up things very easily. She also has a very expressive face.
OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with other friendly dogs and would either love another dog to play with in her new home or have a home where she gets to meet other dogs regularly. She is overly focused on small animals and is very curious, so we won't home her with any for their safety.
GENERAL INFO: Missy needs some training on her lead as she tugs at present in her excitement to get out and experience new things and people. She is mostly housetrained but has the odd accident if left alone for a period of time. She rarely barks and is doing great with her command training but will need ongoing training in this area. She does still jump up a bit when meeting people but this is diminishing with time.
ESSENTIALS for Missy:
* A loving and active home where someone is there for most of the day, or she has another doggy friend for company and to play with.
* An owner who will continue to train her and give her plenty of mental stimulation.
* Good daily exercise, at least two walks a day will keep her happy and healthy.
* A good sized fenced, secure yard with some grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
* To be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
* To be included as part of the family and involved in family activities.
Missy could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 8 years of age - she is quite boisterous and doesn't always realise her size.
If Missy sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
