Meet Miss Percy, a 4 year old female Kelpie X who is full of love. Percy is medium sized, weighing 26kg.
Percy has moderate energy levels and she would benefit from at least a 30 minute walk every day. Percy does not pull on the leash and she is very easy to walk.
Percy loves to play tug of war or chase a ball but she also loves to lounge around and snuggle with her humans or with her doggy friends.
Percy gets along well with other dogs. She currently lives with 2 other dogs in her foster home and she loves to play with them and snuggle next to them. She has also been to the off-leash dog park a number of times whilst in foster care and she is well behaved. Percy has great name recognition and recall. She is suitable to be let off leash in safe environments and as long as you have treats, she will come back to you.
Percy is food motivated and can sit, stay and lay down on command. Percy has excellent eye contact, she is very smart and is easy to train. She is pretty good at not jumping on people however occasionally when she's excited to see her people, she will jump up to greet you. Percy is fully toilet trained. At night Percy sleeps on her dog bed inside and she is as quiet as a mouse.
Sometimes Percy can get protective of her food around other dogs. If other dogs try to stick their nose into her food while she is eating, she will ward them off by barking at them. In her foster home, Percy receives treats with her doggy sisters beside her with no issues. When it comes to breakfast and dinner, to avoid any scuffles, Percy is fed separately.
We don’t know about Percy’s past however she can be timid around new people. Percy is okay with new people giving her a pat and she is okay for visitors to attend her house. Percy feels most comfortable when new people take it slow with her and they let her approach them. Percy has a specific fear of being lifted up by unknown people.
Percy is happy to hang out in the yard during the day if you work full time and whilst she might whine a bit when you are leaving and she will yelp with excitement when you get home, when she is outside by herself she is quiet and happy to chill.
Percy is a gorgeous girl who has a lot of love to give. She is looking for a home where she can feel safe and be given time to grow her confidence in her new people.
We think Percy would love a home with another dog as a friend, but this is not essential if you are home more often than not and you can spend time with Percy. Percy must be allowed to sleep inside at night-time.
