Miss Isla is quite possibly the sweetest puppy on the planet. A cuddly, friendly girl – she is just the right amount of cheeky and cute rolled into one puppy. She wants to be everyone & every dog’s best friend – joyfully greeting everything around her.

Isla will be a medium sized dog, she is an American Staffy baby and has the most delightful gentle nature.

Favourite Things:

Her number one favourite thing after humans and other animals is shoes! She doesn’t destroy them, she just likes to collect them. Every shoe is fair game, the heavier the better. It is so funny to see her drag them to her indoor bed and then sleep on top of them all! She particularly loves slippers and will throw them around the house to entertain herself.

Isla is a cuddler. She is most happy on the couch cuddling into you – she snores quietly and will stay there for hours if you let her. She also loves being with you. Isla is an indoor/outdoor dog and wouldn’t cope with being left outside whilst her humans are having fun indoors.

Interactions with Humans:

Isla loves all humans. She greets everyone with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. She doesn’t jump and is quite polite. She has been into friends' homes and has no issues meeting new friends or being in other homes. Isla would be lovely with all children, she barely mouths and is not jumpy (unless playing). She has not shown any issues with humans.

Training:

Isla is becoming toilet trained. Every morning after being let out of her crate she will run outside and do her business. She is very good at doing this. During the day she might have the occasional indoor wee – if we miss her signals. She has never done a poo inside.

Isla has learnt to sit and is becoming better each day at training. She is learning to wait and not jump for treats. She will fetch a ball – but is yet to master returning it. When walking her she does pull on the lead but consistent training will resolve this.

In the car she cried for around 5/10 minutes and then settled well once comfortable and assured.

Animal social skills:

Isla has been fostered with a cat and an older dog. She loves them both with puppy enthusiasm. She is very interested in the cat but stays a respectful distance. She is very good with other dogs, and we have socialised her with trusted dogs and she is quite playful and confident. She doesn’t chase birds, she doesn’t bark outside and has learnt to sleep in an outdoor kennel quite happily.

Food:

Isla is fed high quality dry puppy food morning and night. She would tend to graze if she was on her own. She loves human food and will often get cooked chicken as well and has had fresh raw bones and pigs ears too. She adores these and we have been practising taking them from her and she has not shown any food aggression.

Independence:

Isla would prefer to be with her humans. She can be outside for a period of time quite happily, but she is not the type of dog who could be left alone all day every day. She would need a doggy friend or have owners who work from home/are home often and can have her inside with them.

Sleeping:

Isla sleeps in the attached garage at night in a crate. She happily goes to bed at around 10pm and sleeps (without accidents) until around 7am. She may fuss slightly for 10 minutes in a new environment – but overall is excellent overnight.

Exercise:

Isla will need daily exercise for at least 30 minutes. Her owners must commit to ongoing socialisation and puppy school so that she can be comfortable walking.

Inside the home:

Isla is excellent in the home. She is very well behaved but does do some adorable zoomies where she will run from one end to the other. She loves to play and show everyone how much she loves them. She loves to lay on a bed, on a couch (if invited) but will happily snooze in her bed next to you as well. Be warned that every shoe is fair game to Isla and they are her most favourite toy so keep the cupboards closed.

Ideal home:

Isla would suit a home with any assortment of humans, young or older but must be an active family willing to train and exercise Isla daily. She could easily be housed with other dogs or animals as she is very social. Isla may show some timidness initially but will come out of her shell quite quickly. If another dog in residence we are seeking a well socialised male

Isla would not suit a home where there are no humans or other dogs home every day.

A medium size secure yard is required as she does love to play with toys outside and do zoomies with her foster dog friend.
